The Fratellis have started a feud with the Arctic Monkeys, labelling their music "mundane". Yay! More indie feud this time coming from Glasgow. They are fed up with A.M songs and reckon they can beat their tracks hands down. With their fast, catchy tunes such as Creeping Up The Backstairs and Henrietta, they want to out-rock the Monkeys off the stage at Leeds and Reading's Carling Weekender later this month. Singer Jon said: "We're a hell of lot more tuneful. Is no one sick of hearing that same song of theirs over and over again? We don't stick with one style and don't like singing about mundane, everyday life like a lot of bands do. So you hate where you grew up? Keep it to yourself." Not sure how they perceive the dancefloor grooves of Turner and gang. But there is no disputing the fun factor in The Fratellis. Jon added: "People will see we're pretty colourful and there are lots of possibilities with us." Their new single 'Chelsea Dagger' is out August 28 and their album, Costello Music, is out on September 11.

Bravery front man Sam Endicott has revealed all about the influences, sounds and writing processes of the band's second album. They are currently a month into studio sessions working on around fifteen songs for their new offering. And fans can expect the new material to sound a lot different to their keyboard heavy debut. Endicott revealed: "We went so synth-crazy on the first one, we kind of burned out on it, and so it's exciting to hear a piano or an acoustic guitar. This one has a much wider range of styles: slow synth songs, rockers, dance songs." The album is planned to get an early 2007 release though Endicott still can't work out which song will be the first single, in fact he thinks they all could be. Now we shall see whether Killers or Bravery era will be fed to the dogs..


Take a good long look at Johnny Depp girls, because the heart-throb actor has announced he's set to quit Hollywood. The 43-year-old says he's giving up movies when he hits 50 because he's worried his ageing appearance could affect the way fans see him. "I won't last in film much after I turn 50," he said. "People go on about how well I look for my age, but what happens when it all drops? I could end up as the Cliff Richard of film." Will be a big shame when the Scissorshand acting career ends.


The girl needs help. Lindsay Lohan wants to go to Iraq to entertain the troops in the style of Marilyn Monroe - with Hillary Clinton by her side. She would go without the Senator and former First Lady and plans to take shooting lessons, she added. Lohan told Elle magazine: "I've been trying to go to Iraq with Hillary Clinton for so long - Hillary was trying to work it out, but it seemed too dangerous. I wanted to do what Marilyn Monroe did, when she went and just set up a stage and did a concert for the troops all by herself. That is what I've always aspired to be." Trying to win back some brownie points?? She added: "I'm not afraid of going. My security guard is going to take me to a gun range when I get back to LA, and I'm going to start taking shooting lessons." Errm.. what for? The Mean Girls star also told the magazine she has never had plastic surgery. Hmmm. *I say the right things but act the wrong way...*

Fran Healy is still not telling us the name of his five-month-old baby. But he has revealed he's tempted to release an album of baby sounds called Goo. (??????) Fran, currently working on the new Travis album, said: "New babies are amazing and inspiring. Our wee boy is nearly five months old. I haven't played him Travis music yet. That could be seen as child abuse in some parts" Haha.. "I have, however, been playing him guitar and singing made-up songs that seem to be getting a good reaction. Cue an anomalous vocal gobbledigook sixth album - the one after next - called Goo. Only your babies will get it, though." Flowers in the cradle?

Miss Lily Allen has been getting free clothes from fashion designers but she still feels glum and has been complaining about it. Why? The Smile star reveals that she feels uncomfortable because none of the freebies fit her. "Now I'm in a position where I get sent free clothes and I can't fit into any of them because they send me the samples - which is what the models get - and nobody looks like a model, except a model," she said. "I feel nervous about the way I look and I don't think I should." Well, she does look great. Maybe it is just the wrong size. "When magazines tells you how to get a swimsuit body in four weeks and you know exactly what the f*** it's going to say - grilled chicken every night and vegetables - of course, you're going to lose weight. It's not fair for little girls who think that's the way they should be and they shouldn't be like that at all. It's not healthy and not a good look." Sarah Harding has been spotted on a romantic date with Steve Jones. She is still keen on spending time with him despite reports of her new relationship with footballer Paolo Vernazza. Harding and Jones rekindled their romance while dining at the Nobu restaurant in London last week. "They were definitely more interested in each other's lips than the food," an onlooker said. "Steve was being very intimate with Sarah and didn't care who saw as he kissed her. She's still seeing Paolo but she's keeping Steve on the go as well.
