Avril Lavigne has revealed that she's ready to branch out from music and start taking her movie career seriously. "I want to do other things also, outside of music - have some fun with acting and do a couple of movies," she said. "I have one scene in (upcoming movie called The Flock), and I've done a couple of small things, but now I'm looking to do a big part." Avril also plans to inflict her tacky dress sense on the rest of us. "I'd love to do a clothing line. I have a million ideas and I love fashion." Maybe also take some time out to work on that humour-bypass, eh Avril?

British dance act Faithless have parted ways with their record company in a bid to regain artistic control of their music. The band have been signed to SonyBMG subsidiary Cheeky for four albums, but Sister Bliss admits she is desperate for more freedom in the studio. "We've been masters of the DIY ethic," she said. "There's something about not being under the pressure of a big corporation and not having to fill their coffers." She adds the group might ditch albums to release single tracks instead. The band are due to perform as part of Cork's 'Live at the Marquee' festival tomorrow.

Lindsay Lohan won't have to get behind the wheel of a car when she comes out of rehab. The questionable driver is being offered a free service to ensure she gets from nightclubs to her home safely. New York-based company Georgi is coming to the star's help and will provide Lindsay with a free service the next time she leaves Teddy's, Hyde, Winston's or any other celeb hotspot. Lindsay has also cancelled her 21st birthday party in Las Vegas, Nevada. "The party was cancelled officially over two weeks ago," said her spokesperson. "We were confused why 'Pure' was even still promoting it. But Lindsay will not be having the birthday party at 'Pure' and is focusing on her recovery 100%." Something's not right here.

Nadine Coyle has finally got something to high-kick about... she has the best legs of 2007, according to a new poll. The singer is five places above bandmate Cheryl Cole. The new award may make Nadine change her mind about her legs - she has once admitted to hating them. She said: "My legs are too skinny. They are not attractive. TV adds weight, so they look a wee bit better when I'm on a show." Kylie took the runner-up spot in the survey carried out for Smash Hits music TV channel. Researchers found that Nadine Coyle displays her 36in-long legs for an average of 59 seconds in each Girls Aloud music video. A deserving winner indeed.

Nicole Richie has further fuelled pregnancy rumors by abstaining from alcohol at a showbiz party. The skinny one - who allegedly received test results confirming she is pregnant two weeks ago - attended the Yves Saint Laurent Centre Dance Arts party with last Thursday night. According to the New York Daily, "Nicole had everyone whispering when she declined alcohol." Life and Style Weekly mag revealed: "Nicole recently underwent a series of tests, including blood and urine screenings, which confirmed she is pregnant." Nicole was photographed outside a reproductive clinic last month - just days after her alcohol-fuelled Memorial Day barbecue. She is said to be going on a special diet for the sake of her unborn child. Diet for two?

Nicole Kidman celebrated her 40th birthday on the beach in Sydney on Sat (16 Jun) with a party thrown by her friends. With Keith expected to join on her actual birthday date on Wed (20 Jun), it was left to family and friends to help the star celebrate her last weekend on Bondi Beach. It was largely an all-girl's affair as her sis Antonia and mum Janelle invited 30 of the star's closest pals to join them at Bondi Icebergs for a pre-birthday dinner. In hitting 40, she said, "It feels just right. I don't feel what I thought that wretched age was going to be like. I have done a lot of things and it has been full up to this point, especially the past few years, so I am grateful for that." [Kidman-NiteOut]

Ellen DeGeneres is concerned for society if people continue to admire self-confessed "dumb" socialite Paris Hilton. After re-entering jail, she admitted: "I used to act dumb. That act is no longer cute." DeGeneres says: "She's not getting anywhere doing that. If that really is an act, if she really was playing dumb, than what does that say about our society that we're celebrating someone who was successful because they're not smart?" Despite her criticisms of Hilton, she has invited the socialite to appear on her talk show. "I hope she is reading good books and I hope she comes out and changes her life a little because she needed to." Now that would be a miracle.

The casting of upcoming movie 'Watchmen' is ongoing where it was rumoured that Keanu Reeves has passed on the part of Dr. Manhattan in the comic adaptation. However Reeves' manager, Erwin Stoff, has emailed one of the actors fan sites insisting that whilst the actor was indeed offered the part, he has turned it down. Mr Reeves is known to be a big fan of Comic Books. Other actors/ fans who aren't as hesitant are Jude Law (who has a Watchmen Tattoo about his person), John Cusask, who responded to rumours that he was to play Nite Owl by simply stating "I'm in!".
