Carla Bruni and fiancee Nicolas Sarkozy are expecting their first child. The pair are said to be planning to wed next month on 9 Feb, although the President has hinted he will marry in a secret ceremony. He told reporters of the impending nuptials, "There is a strong chance that you will learn about it once it's already been done". No wonder they are looking so bloody relaxed.

A newspaper photographer described an attack on him by Bjork shortly at New Zealand's Auckland International Airport. Bjork tore Glenn Jeffrey's shirt in half on Sunday. Mr Jeffrey said, "I took a couple of pictures ... and as I turned and walked away, she came up behind me, grabbed the back of my black skivvy and tore it." Bjork said nothing, but her male companion was saying: "B, don't do this, B, don't do this." Too much unwanted camera flashes perhaps?

Lucy Liu pities men for having to deal with modern women, because the 'girl power' trend of recent years has left them confused. She says, "I think men are in some ways a little bit confused but I don't mean that in a bad way. Some women are happy to open a door themselves. And are men supposed to pay for dinner? I think it's a difficult connection for them to understand". You gotta spell it out Lucy coz different rules apply everywhere.

Pete Doherty's manager has denied reports the singer has started dating the 'new Kate Moss', model Portia Freeman. A pal says, "Pete is seeing Portia and he really likes her. It's early days and they are enjoying each other's company." However, Andy Boyd commented, "I'm not saying that he and Portia don't know each other - I just don't think they are in a relationship." We shall see.
