Working with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (Unifem), Kidman will focus attention on "critical gender concerns such as ending violence against women," according to a press release from the UN. "Nicole joins Unifem as we are celebrating our 30th anniversary to help raise awareness on issues of pressing concern to women around the world," Unifem's executive director Noeleen Heyzer said. Good for her.
It's been a long time coming. Kate Moss has taken a swipe at Sienna Miller - branding her an "amateur". The catwalk queen is reportedly sick of S.M winning modelling assignments and thinks the blonde should stick to acting. Moss is said to be furious S.M is featuring on magazine covers she thinks should be hers. The model lashed out at S.M while she enjoyed a boozy night out at the Ritz in Paris. A source said: "She was loudly saying Sienna was not a professional model and she should be getting front covers - not an actress. Sienna is a real threat because she is younger. But Kate is not ready to give up her throne." She also said how she thought S.M stab at celebrity has failed. Kate said: "Sienna has blown it now - she's had her last chance. But she was never one of us anyhow." What Katie did was a joy to know.
Soooo..guitarist Patrick Walden rejoined Babyshambles onstage last night. It was just two weeks ago when he left, causing Pete's band to play their first gig without him. The band surprised fans when Walden walked out with them at the start of their set at the Cambridge Junction in England. But then, they are likely to lose their frontman for a long period come next month..

Liam Gallagher makes surprise London appearance
Richard Ashcroft was joined onstage by Liam Gallagher at his London's Electric Ballroom show on Tues night (Jan 24). [ 1 2 3 4 5 ] The Oasis singer appeared onstage to help out on a version of 'The Drugs Don't Work'. According to fans at the show, Ashcroft was struggling with a rendition of the song and was lying on the floor when Liam came onstage to pick him up and encourage him to carry on, which he did. He came to Ashcroft's rescue when he couldn't remember the order of the song and had to stop/start the performance three times. When he finished the song Liam came on again and started applauding. Then he spoke into the microphone to praise Ashcroft for being a "free spirit". Noel G wrote the song 'Cast No Shadow' which was a tribute to Ashcroft. Great to see an old buddy being there to help out in times of need.
The Vines have set a release date of April 3rd for their third studio offering which is strongly rumoured to be called Vision Valley. The band explains that there is.."A couple of great Beatles kind of punk rock songs, a bit of sixties beat garage stuff, a couple of really good indie slacker tracks and a bit of soaring pop stuff like that. A few strings. He's always been a really big fan of that lush production, whether it's been obvious in the past." The new single is 'Don't Listen To The Radio'.
The Vines finally have their own Myspace Account.

Pink's Stupid Girl (Spoofing the lohans/hiltons/simpsons/duffs of this world.)
The Sounds. This is a very good indie band from Sweden. Containing melancholic and groovy tunes, i'm quite impressed with the way they mix it up with electronicas to create some fantastic catchy 'must-hear-again' songs. The vocalist has some of Blondie's aura.
Jewel posted a message to fans on her official website regarding her forthcoming album 'Goodbye Alice in Wonderland', set for release on May 2nd. "'Goodbye Alice in Wonderland' is no fairy tale, but still a strange tale indeed; it is the story of my life - from the extreme solitude of Alaska, to my first trip to Hollywood," the singer writes. My intuition says this lovely lass will entertain me ears again with another feel-good album.
Simon Cowell is responding to talk from 'Pop Idol' season one champ Will Young that Cowell's 'X Factor' show is more about grabbing fame, not about talent. "I am guessing that record sales are not as buoyant right now hence the attack, but I hold no grudge at this point, honestly," Cowell said. I'm not being rude, but...

It's official. All Saints have reformed! The group had been the subject of persistent rumours since late last year that original members Melanie Blatt, Shaznay Lewis and Nicole/Natalie Appleton would follow the lead of boy band Take That and reunite. They have now confirmed that they are signing to Parlophone, and a new album and live dates are expected for later this year. The band's last album 'Saints and Sinners' was released in 2000, and the group split up in 2001. Yeah! Going solo has not been rosy for all of them. Being 'all hooked up' again should work wonders.
I'm glad Charlottey Church refuses to join the ranks of the politically correct celebs. She reckons only Robbie W and Liam G can match her for speaking their minds. Charl - up for the Best Female gong at next month's Brits - said: "Everyone is too PC but I think people like me because I'm quite ballsy and say just what I think. No one ever says anything interesting apart from Robbie and Liam. The rest spout boring rubbish and are nicey-nicey about everyone." Imagine a music world where all is peace and harmony among the singers, anger & true colours being hidden. It will be all.. yellow.
Loved this song 'The Last Time You Go' by Yeti. Very hippie tunes in the veins of The Stands, The Byrds, etc..
BBC's exclusive session with Yeti / The Kills
The contestants were introduced to a popular female model in their home and Jay M told them to rub some fruits on their faces. The reason was because they are going to do a talk-show stint the next day with some outspoken guy regarding a fruitty product. All had to memorize 10 lines of the product before they come face to face with the 'host'. Kyle won the test..she brought Nicole along to a great prize of hosting VH1 TV show. Coryn & Lisa continued their feud. Lisa called Coryn presenting herself like a 'moron' which led to Coryn calling Lisa an alcoholic bitch. The rest just shook their head... The next 5-7 mins was all abt Lisa whining to her bf on the phone, having glasses of wine...sleeping on the porch alone...Nik & Bre brought her back to the house coz they felt it had to be done. After that, the girls were interviewed by a visiting Tyra to talk about their smoking habits and how it affects the modelling career. Next day, Kyle & Nicole filmed a hosting clip for VH1. Lisa was told to be quiet by the director to which she kept complaining she would do a better job, blah blah. The girls were told to shoot an ad for their personal 'secret fear', then a proned position smiling photoshoot then finally a 'mock' interview with Ryan Devlin about the deodorent product. Lisa did a good job. Nik, Coryn were nervous. Jayla as usual was stunning with her communication skills. Jayla & Nik had the same fear line so.. Jayla accidentally took Nik's line which made her unhappy. Jayla felt the animosity. Nik Vs Jayla feud? Judging time. Lisa nailed it for 3 items(ad, photoshoot, interview). Same goes for Jayla. Coryn, Nik, Bre were not so good. Kyle overdid the commercial with her finger pointing towards camera antics. Kim's photoshoot was a bit stiff. Nicole did well..her photo was brilliant. Twiggy said Kyle was pretty but is just ordinary which is quite true. First name - Lisa.. then Jayla, Kim, Nicole (ad is chosen on TV), Kyle (name shouted playfully by Tyra), Bre....Nik vs Coryn final two. Both were equally low in morale in their performances but Nik was spared. That means Coryn said goodbye to the rest. Nice to see Lisa being naturally sad seeing Coryn leaving while she was given a group hug.

It was a mission doomed to failure... glam diva Alison Goldfrapp tried to give Coldplay's Chris Martin a Justin Hawkins makeover. The Ooh La La front woman attempted to get the dour singer into some Darkness-style Lycra. Alison, who is known for her figure-hugging stage outfits, said: "When we were on tour with Coldplay, I made a jumpsuit for Chris. I'm one of those people who likes doing things with their hands while thinking about something else, so for me it's like therapy." Somehow i don't think Chris was told to wear her catsuit creation attires...
Jack White's other band, The Raconteurs, have released details of their debut single. A mere 1000 copies of Steady As She Goes/Store Bought Bones will go on sale when it hits the shops on January 30. However, look out for some live UK tour dates planned over the next few months. Jack started the side project with his pal and fellow Detroit musician Brendan Benson plus 2 other unknown musicians. It is retro garage rock reminiscent of the Yardbirds. 'Steady As She Goes'/'Store Bought Bones' is a limited-edition double A-side single, released through XL. The band's debut album is slated for a May release, and a tour is in the works.
Scarlett Johansson has signed a $4million deal to become the new face of cosmetics giant L'Oreal. The actress - from Polish and Danish descent - will star in TV adverts for the company - which has the slogan "because you're worth it." The new deal was revealed just weeks after her two-year contract with Calvin Klein fragrances ended. Scarlett will appear in ad's displaying a range of hair colours, swapping her trademark blonde locks for other L'Oreal shades. They made a good choice.
Pink tutu ballerina for Ashlee Simpson? Ashlee has installed a "ballet bar" in her home to reignite her passion for ballet. She was once the youngest student ever accepted at the School Of American Ballet, but dropped out to concentrate on her singing career. Does it pay off? From the dollar-sign eyes of Joe, it definitely did - with some controversies along the way of course. Now, she's planning to don her tutu again, after setting up a small dance studio in her Hollywood home. She says, "I have to say I'm not very good. It's been a while, but it's fun." Hopefully the dance steps are in-tune with the music..
