Hammerhead

Eva Mendes used to sell hot dogs to pay the bills. The actress donned an unflattering red, yellow and white uniform for her summer job at California's Hot Dog on a Stick fast food restaurant, at Glendale Galleria supermall, before she got her big break. She said: "I worked at the Glendale Galleria's Hot Dog on a Stick. It really wasn't that long ago." Orlando Bloom also once had an equally unglamorous part-time job, working on a clay pigeon shooting range loading the discs. He told Access: "I was a clay trapper. I put clay discs into a clay trap machine and make them fly off. Guys would then shoot them out of the sky." Ah, the good old days.

Keira Knightley's actor boyfriend will play Prince Albert in 'The Young Victoria.' Rupert Friend will star opposite Emily Blunt - playing Queen Victoria I - in the movie exploring the intense romance between the 19th century monarch and Albert. The film will also concentrate on Victoria's ascension to the throne at just 18-years-old. Although the film, produced by Sarah Ferguson and Graham King, focuses on Victoria and Albert's passionate love, there will be no sex scenes. The director was adamant the project should be shot in Britain. He said: "You can't shoot a film about a great queen of England in bloody Budapest or Bucharest - or at least I can't. Audiences aren't stupid. They travel, so they know an Eastern European landscape when they see one."

Joss Stone has vowed to remain defiant despite pleas from her record label to refrain from promoting her music in the UK. She got ridiculed for her appearance at the Brit Awards after she spoke in an American accent. But Stone insists she doesn't care how she is portrayed by the British press - and insists she'll never "shut up". She tells MTV: "In a way I wasn't surprised. I've learnt that the w**ker newspapers don't build you up to be nice they do it to knock you down so there's nothing I can do. They (the label) said don't do anything in the UK because everybody hates you. I'm totally not shutting up any time soon - I never have and never will." It's her way or the highway.

Robbie Williams has posted a bizarre video on the internet claiming he has found God. He declares his love for the Christian faith by singing lyrics from what he claims is a new song. In the video, a disheveled Robbie sits in a dark room, smoking a cigarette and mumbling about finding Jesus. He has written a song called 'Bodies', before singing: "God came in the sunshine. He showed me a lifeline. What a day, Jesus really died for me. Yeah, Jesus really tried for me." Robbie's recent behavior has sparked concern among his family and friends. Aliens to blame?

Ewan McGregor and his pal Charley Boorman have taken time out of their epic motorcycle journey to visit a United Nation Children's Fund charity project in Ethiopia. The pair are travelling the length of the planet on motorbikes, starting at John O'Groats in Scotland and ending at Cape Town, South Africa. Last Friday (29 Jun), they parked their bikes to meet the residents of Zalambasa, where many people have lost limbs through dangerous landmine explosions. McGregor says, ''We're here and have been looking at landmine issues today with Unicef. It's been just extraordinary to meet kids who've lost legs and had horrible accidents with landmines, and it's been incredible. The kids are just great." Good work dudes.

Snoop Dogg has launched a campaign to gain Australian citizenship. The rapper, real name Calvin Broadus, was due to co-host the MTV Australia Video Music Awards in Sydney in April, but was refused entry into the country because of his criminal record and recent run-ins with the law. Now he has launched a campaign to overturn the decision with MTV in Australia by running a series of short films of Snoop posing for photographs in various Australian hotspots and purchasing a home in Sydney. Snoop tells the film: "Journey with me as I become a citizen of the land Down Under." There must be something smooth going on in the south coast.
