Back To Black

Julianne Moore and Tom Hanks are going back in time as the unlikely stars of a new Barry Levinson western. The pair will star in new movie Boone's Lick, Missouri, which is adapted from a book written by Larry McMurtry. In the new period film, Moore will portray a pioneer woman who falls in love with her brother-in-law, played by Hanks, during a cross-country trip from Missouri to a fort in Wyoming to rejoin her husband. Shooting is scheduled to begin later this year. Levinson has replaced Lasse Halstrom as the director of the film.

JJ Abrams has signed on to direct the next installment of the Star Trek feature franchise. Star Trek XI will focus on a young James T. Kirk and MR. Spock and chronicles their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and their first mission in space. Abrams reportedly finalised the deal late in Feb '07. The film is said to star Matt Damon as Kirk, with Gary Sinise playing Dr. 'Bones' McCoy. Adrien Brody has been rumoured to be playing Spock. Meanwhile Abrams is in talks to acquire the rights to Stephen King's novel The Dark Tower. King has been keen to keep the project away from Hollywood hands but the writer is reportedly a huge fan of Abrams' desert island drama - and is thrilled about working with the director. Abrams may team up with Damon Lindelhof on the project. Nice.

Lost Season 3 Ep 19 - The Brig
Now that we know how Locke became a cripple, the next big question is why Anthony Cooper was brought to the island. It is now confirmed by Ben that the magic box was just a metaphor. While Kate and her rescue gang were left behind, Locke willingly followed Ben along with his Others clan to some remote place while living in tents. Because Locke still has a significant chip on his back (Cooper), the only way that he can be ready was to kill his dad which led to a shaming scene where Locke refused to do it while being watched by the Others community. Ben told his people that Locke wasn't who they thought he was. Why did Ben tell Locke about their plan to kidnap the pregnant women? He seemed rather open in disclosing that news. Later on, Eyeliner Alpert approached Locke and revealed how everyone there thinks he is extremely special because he could walk again after being a cripple for some years. The only way Locke can find his purpose and also perhaps become their new leader is to finish off Cooper. Since Locke can't do that, maybe James Ford can fulfill that task. A red file containing Sawyer's life documents was given and that is why Locke came back to the beach to find Sawyer. Nice touch when Ben throws: "Don't tell me what I can't do, John." back in Locke's face. About a day later, Kate & Sawyer were still seen bunnying around. A while later, he went to take a leak when Locke showed up and told him about capturing Ben somewhere else. He invited Sawyer to come with him to kill Ben which Sawyer reluctantly obliged. Sawyer to Locke: "Now that you got back from your 'blowing up everything that could get us off the island tour'.." Turning to the Naomi situation, the foursome learnt about Penny coming to find Desmond. Hurley wanted to call Jack to tend to her wounds but Des convinced them Jack cannot truly be trusted with Juliet by his side all the time. So they got Sayid to ask her a few questions. Naomi doesn't actually know Desmond or Penny but her company was hired by Penelope Widmore to find Desmond and was given a set of coordinates in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a task she and her companions dubbed a "fool's errand." Another revelation was that the plane has been found off the coast of Bali. Naomi's helicopter went down when her equipment went haywire, which happened as soon as she saw the island. The helicopter took off from a ship about 80 Nautical Miles (148.16 km) from the island. Sayid didn't believe her words but was made to look silly when the satellite phone was shown to him. Looks like island interference is blocking all the channels on Naomi's fancy sat phone. Kate later spotted Sayid with the equipment and was told not to inform Jack about their latest discovery. Of course this woman has to spill the beans to Jack who was enjoying time with the ever present Juliet by his side. What is up with Jack telling Juliet "Not yet." when Jules said that they should tell Kate something? At the Black Rock, Locke showed Sawyer the area where 'Ben' was being imprisoned which was The Brig. Of course, the hostage was actually Cooper who revealed his past and relations with Locke as well as Sawyer's parents. Cool scene where Rousseau creppily came in to retrive some dynamite and Locke not telling her his purpose of being there while Sawyer was repeated banging on the door throughout their interaction. What the hell does she want those explosives for? James Ford realizes that Cooper is the man who conned his mother and forced him to read the letter which he wrote as a kid which led to Cooper making it out as a joke. He believed this place is hell because he got hit by a vehicle, received an IV in an ambulance and later woke up to see his 'dead' son Locke while being gagged up. Another reason why he thinks this is not really an island because he knew Flight 815 has been found with no survivors. After tearing the letter instead of finishing it, James got totally enraged and proceeded to kill him off. Locke then gave his thanks to James for completing the task. A tape recorder with Juliet's message was given to him as Locke revealed The Others' upcoming mission to capture the pregnant women in a few days time. Best line goes to Locke when Sawyer asked him whether he was a cripple -> "Not anymore." That is a very important theme for Locke who is now on his own path and might just be the new leader of The Others.

Johnny Depp wants to make P.O.T.C films for the rest of his career. He told Top of the Pops mag: "I'll never get bored of Captain Jack, he is so much fun. If they wanted to do 'Pirates 7,' why not? There are new layers to Jack and situations that he can't just talk his way out of, so it would be good to keep exploring the character." One downside about playing Jack is the process of having gold teeth glued on for every scene. "They're bonded on to my own choppers! They make the surface of my teeth kind of rough then use hot glue and laser the false teeth on. The process of taking them off can be quite ugly." Funny guy.

Amy Winehouse has vowed to clean up her act - on her boyfriend's mother's orders. Known for her drunken antics, Amy insists she does not have an alcohol problem but is willing to sort herself out for the sake of Alex - and his embarrassed mum. She said: "My boyfriend's mum keeps telling him I have a drink problem. People at work are saying to her that her 'daughter-in-law' is an alcoholic. I don't really have a problem with alcohol - I have a problem with me, which probably comes out when I drink." Instead of wild nights out partying, the Rehab star now plans to stay at home cooking for her man. Now that is quite hard to believe.

LA Direct magazine spoke with Katharine McPhee in a Q&A, asking her opinion on Hollywood actresses slimming down to fit into certain styles. "I think it's insane to try to be skinny in order to fit into a certain style of clothing," she responded. "Sometimes your body just doesn't look right in a particular cut or style. It's nothing new, though. People are always trying to look slimmer and hotter." Read more... [McPhee-LA_Direct]
