Alan Arkin will reunite with Steve Carell in the big-screen version of Get Smart. Arkin will play the chief of 'Kontrol', the organization that fights the evil forces of 'Kaos'. Edward Platt played the character in the 1965 TV series on which the movie is based. Carell is on board as secret agent Maxwell Smart, with Anne Hathaway as Agent 99. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Terence Stamp also have been cast. Wooo! This should be a cracking remake. Let's hope we can hear that whiny '86' voice again together with the breathy, seductive '99' character.



Nicole Kidman and her ex-husband shocked party-goers at the Vanity Fair Oscar event when they enthusiastically chatted with each other and introduced their new spouses. She and Keith Urban spent 20 minutes in "animated conversation" with M:I star and Katie Holmes. According to Daily Telegraph, the meet-and-greet between those two couples caused a stir and was watched intently by the VIP crowd. Urban skipped up the red carpet with his wife, but the Aussie couple presented a united front in their first big industry outing since his treatment for alcoholism last year. Time healed all wounds, eh?

Vanity is the reason why Liz Hurley always leaves her house looking beautiful. She feels under pressure to look her best at all times, even when taking her son Damian to school. Liz told OK mag: "I feel pressure not to leave my house looking an absolute wreck. I have people who recognise me from my movies or magazines, so I feel it would be disappointing to look dreadful. I made a rule to never go down the stairs in a dressing gown with unbrushed hair and unwashed face." Liz also revealed she has equally high standards for men. No matter how many sex tapes are released, no matter how many times she gets in trouble with the law, Miss Paris Hilton just doesn't get a clue. Paris was pulled over by the Los Angeles County Sheriff on Tuesday night for speeding without her headlights on. The officer then found out she was driving with a suspended license. The incident occurred when the socialite was on her way home after purchasing DVDs at a local music store. She was issued a ticket on the scene then sent on her merry way. An official spokesman said, "She was arrested for driving on a suspended licence, which is a misdemeanour. Her car was impounded and she was cited and released." This latest run in with the law could see her end up in jail, but she may get away with a $1,000 fine. This is like having 'nine lives' status.

Arctic Monkeys have revealed the b-sides for their comeback single Brianstorm. On April 16th, the band will release a 7", 10" and CD, with some brand new b-side tracks. The 7" will feature 'Temptation Greets You Like Your Naughty Friend', where they collaborate with grime MC Dizzee Rascal. The 10" and CD both feature four tracks in total, including the two mentioned plus 'If You Found This It's Probably Too Late' and 'What If You Were Right The First Time?'. Kaiser Chiefs and Arctic Monkeys have exchanged harsh words ahead of Thursday's NME Awards ceremony. Turner once commented that if his band became as established as the Kaisers they would quit music. Now Nick Baines has hit back with a jibe at AM's songwriting skills. "We're an easy target because nobody ever slags off a small band," declared Baines. "It'd be better if they were writing better songs than us, but they're not, so they can shut up." Meanwhile, a music industry source said, "Anything could happen on Thursday, which is slightly thrilling and slightly nerve-wracking for the organisers. The Arctics aren't known for their good behaviour. Last year they were kicking their awards around the dancefloor and shouting at anybody who got in their way. So special measures are being taken to try to keep them away from the Kaiser Chiefs." Nah, just put 'em in the same table! They will definitely behave like decent chaps for about a minute or two..



Lindsay was back to work on Monday (Feb 26) on her film 'I Know Who Killed Me', where she plays an exotic dancer who develops split personality disorder. She made sure to attend the exclusive after parties, one of which was the Vanity Fair party where she was surrounded by Leo DiCaprio and George Clooney. Principal photography has begun in London on 'Sweeney Todd' starring Johnny Depp and directed by Tim Burton. Depp plays the title character in the screen adaptation of the Stephen Sondheim's macabre musical about a vengeful London barber in 19th-century London. This marks the sixth collaboration between Depp and Burton. 'Sweeney Todd' also stars Helena Bonham Carter as Todd's meat pie-baking accomplice, Alan Rickman, Sacha Baron Cohen and horror veteran Christopher Lee. All the stars will do their own singing for the film which is scheduled later this year.



The Bravery have previewed three tracks from their forthcoming second album via their official website. 'The Sun And The Moon', set for release in May. The tracks 'Shapes', 'The Ocean' and 'Every Word Is A Knife In My Ear' are available via thebravery.com, with frontman Sam Endicott describing the latter as "a weird mix between the (Rolling) Stones and the Ramones." Will these guys be a half-decent one album wonder?

Cuffed goes my heart? Not long after splitting from Jemima, Hugh Grant has been linked with yet another woman. Literally. An attractive brunette charged at him from a crowd of fans and clamped herself to him with a set of metal handcuffs. The woman struck as he was posing for photographs with fans at the Dutch premiere of 'Music And Lyrics'. Dumbfounded, Grant was forced to walk the red carpet and sign autographs while still chained to the mystery admirer. He spent a full 10 minutes attached to her as firefighters struggled to release him. An onlooker said: "She appeared from nowhere and Grant couldn't believe it was happening. He did look relieved when he disappeared into the theatre - she could have been a maniac." The woman was Cielke Sijben, a journalist working for Dutch TV network. Despite his newfound freedom, Grant was forced to spend the rest of the night still wearing one half of the handcuffs. You just wonder.. was that lady doing her job or just fulfilling some dreams?


Charlotte Church has sparked rumours she is pregnant after she abstained from alcohol at her 21st birthday party. The singer stayed sober as she celebrated the landmark occasion with close family and friends on Wednesday, fuelling speculation she was expecting. Charlotte is said to have cancelled a big bash at Cardiff's Hilton hotel, choosing instead to have the intimate gathering at her home. She has also given up smoking and friends claim she has put on weight, despite being on a diet. No wonder she would not be surprised if he gets down one knee anytime soon.

This is brilliant!! Warner Bros Pictures is looking to make a feature based on super team the Justice League of America, hiring writing duo Kiernan and Michele Mulroney to write the script. The feature film is bound to include some combination of DC's most iconic superheroes, although the studio wouldn't confirm which ones they might be. It's unlikely that the studio and DC Comics, would opt to feature second-tier characters. "The Justice League of America has been a perennial favorite for generations of fans, and we believe their appeal to film audiences will be as strong and diverse as the characters themselves," Jeff Robinov said. To a large degree, casting will depend upon the story arc for the JLA feature and at what point in the superheroes' lives the plot takes place. [JLeague-Movie]

Earbud trainer sounds good. Joggers need no longer worry about diligently monitoring their health instead of listening to music as they run. US inventors Jeffrey Lovejoy and Joseph Giordano have applied to patent modified earbud headphones that measure heart rate. The system interjects advice and encouragement (or warnings to slow down) through the same headphones over the music, removing the need for the jogger to keep one eye on a wrist-mounted heart monitor. These headphones have a pair of conductive pads that press against the skin inside a wearer's ear and monitor heart activity like a pair of electrocardiogram electrodes. Software on a connected personal stereo keeps track of the runner's heart rate and intones key statistics. The heart rate is continually checked against stored values for the jogger's height, weight and age so the wearer can be given the best personal training tips. A more advanced design could shine light through the ear lobe to check blood oxygen content as well. Clever.

LOST Season 3 Ep 9 - Stranger In A Strange Land
After the surgery on Ben's kidney was done, Jack went back to his cell. Not knowing what was next to come for his fate, Tom told him that he has to shift out of the cell into a new cage. Jack argued about showing some respect and taunts the others about the kind of people they are (hang Charlie from a tree, abducting kids, pregnant women, etc) but Tom counteract with the 'stones in a glass house' phrase. Juliet is now being treated as a prisoner and a new lady appeared by the name of Isabel. She is apparently 'The Sheriff' but is still lower in rank behind Ben. In the flashback scenes, Jack was in Thailand to 'find himself' and he doesn't have the tattoos done yet. Another new character called Achara, a mysterious tattoo artist, befriends the doc and grew intimate for a month without her informing him much about the special powers she possessed. Only when Jack stalked her going to a tattoo parlour did he know about her ability to see people as who they are. Achara told Jack he was a great leader but which caused him to be very lonely. Upon hearing this, Jack forced her to ink the tattoo that represents him. Next day, her posse of friends whacked Jack and told him to immediately leave the country. Even the soft drinks boy who was once very friendly shuns him completely. What was it exactly that bothers them regarding the tattoo Jack wanted? Back on the main island, Kate wanted 'James' to follow her back to help Jack which got a negative response. Karl told them the others have their own backyard, only stayed at Alcatraz for 'projects', lived on the same main island and abducted the kids to give them a better life. After Sawyer called a sobbing Karl 'Bobby'... "What the hell is the Brady Bunch?".. Karl has never heard of The Brady Bunch. Was he born on the island? Sawyer let Karl off because he wants him to be reunited with Alex. Upon listening to Karl's stories about Alex, and it's obvious that Sawyer is drawing parallels to his feelings for Kate. On Alcatraz land, Isabel read out the tattoo characters in front of Jack and then brought him to some office with lots of files and cabinets. Juliet & Tom was there as well. Jack lied to Isabel about Juliet not telling him to kill Ben which frustrates her. Next day, Cindy/Zack/Emma from tailies section plus some other unknown 'zombie' behaviour people were standing outside Jack's cage. They swiftly went away after Jack screamed at Cindy after she asked him about Ana-Lucia. With Juliet now in trouble after killing Danny, Jack took an opportunity to speak to Ben after Alex asked him about why he did the surgery. Notice that Alex always uses 'Ben' and not 'Dad' when conversing. Ben revealed that Ethan was the Others' resident surgeon until he met his well-deserved fate. Jack now wants Ben to promise him that he will save Juliet from being executed in exchange for treating the growing infection on his wiring from the surgery. Jack/Alex then sent a handwritten letter from Ben to Isabel at some courtroom hearing ceremony with Juliet looking dejected facing a crowd of 'zombie' heads. Isabel changed the orders from execution to just 'marking' Jules. Next day, Jack got a grilled sandwich from Juliet where he asked to see the marking. It looks like an upside down Hydra logo. The "Mark" is clearly a reference to the Mark of Cain, which usually refers to a mark of shame or separation from society as retribution for Cain's fratricide. She told him that Ben will be sent somewhere else to avoid the losties coming back to get revenge. Jack and Juliet seemed to be forming an alliance which could prove vital in the coming weeks. That night, Jules, Jack, Ben along with the rest sailed off in a boat bigger than Michael's version. Before they went off, Isabel explained to Jack what his tattoo says, "although he walks among us he is not one of us," but he then told her it is what they say but not what it means.. In Hinduism Achara and Dharma are synonymous with the same thing i.e. the regulation of daily life. Indeed Achara is often refered to as the Supreme Dharma. Will Ben keep his promise of sending both of them back to the real 'Home'?



Scarlett Johansson is in India on an awareness-raising visit to help highlight the suffering endured by poor people in the country. She has been in India since Monday, and has toured schools and slums in New Delhi. Ashvin Dayal, south Asian director of charity Oxfam, says, "We are delighted that Scarlett is supporting Oxfam and our work to help end global poverty. High-profile support helps us to raise awareness of these issues and urge governments and leaders worldwide to act." More power to this lady.


Anne Hathaway says filming 'Becoming Jane' was a nightmare and struggled to cope with perfecting the British accent while filming in a cold Irish climate. She told Sunday Telegraph: "There were certain days when we were filming in Ireland and it was so cold, and you're trying not to freeze to death and of course I'm trying to do the accent. It's so cold it makes you very tight which can make your voice sound higher." Her intonation was so poor that most of her dialogue had to be re-recorded. Anne said: "After all that f***ing accent work, about 80 per cent of the dialogue in the film was unusable. I had to go to England to re-record it all." Maybe that is the last of her doing a role with the Euro accent.

Ash have started to make their new music available, beginning with a new track released online. 'I Started A Fire' is now available through the band's MySpace page [Ash-MySp], and is the first song from their upcoming album to be made public. "It's a bitchy love song, dealing with bi-polar emotions," frontman Tim Wheeler explained to XFM. Their sixth studio album is as-of-yet unnamed publicly, but the trio are leaving clues around for fans to latch on to, including a game of Hangman on their blog. Should be a great one.


Joss Stone has drafted in football hard man Vinnie Jones to sing on her new album. He will be providing spoken words and sings on a hidden track. Joss said: "I wanted someone to introduce the record and I love Vinnie cos I love his accent. He's got that spirit, that's just like 'fuck it', which is my spirit as well - we kinda connect like that. "I call him up now - it's like we've known each other for years (but) I'd never spoken to him before in my life!" Mr Juggernaut would probably marathon run across cities to get to the studios for that particular offer.

Lady Sovereign has some choice words on her music rivals. First, she has branded Lily Allen "the biggest chav going" and thinks it is unfair she is attacked in Britain for her sense of style, while Lily is lauded for her quirky dress sense. The S.O.V told Observer mag: "I'm not appreciated. You get some of the media hating people like me 'cause they're chavish but Lily is the biggest chav going and everyone seems to love her." The Good Vibrations event ended with one of the most anticipated performances when these trio boys came strutting in their smart attires. Their set-list include some recent ones [2004] along with their old favs like No Sleep, Intergalactic and Sabotage. A funny incident came when some drunkard dude climbed up the left-side scaffolding and encouraged everyone to put our hands up in the air. Actually thought he was part of the set-up until two security guys tried ever so hard to drag him down. Mix Master Mike is phenomenal as ever as he blew us all way with his turntable skills. Being not so much of a hip-hop fan, seeing so many peeps with oversized jerseys/baseball caps all around creates an interesting environment unlike those from the rocknroll nature. Favourite tune Body Movin' performance was simply jaw-opening to say the least. As they ended the night with Sabotage, it was safe to say everyone had a 'cheshire-cat smile' time. I was fortunate enough to touch Mike D & Adrock at the footpath lane as they were swiftly heading towards a private van after the show...HAHAAHAHA! Hope they'll come back again.

Charlotte Church will ditch her television career in favour of a return to classical music. She said, "I often think 'Oh my God, I was so good at opera, why did I leave it behind? Now that I am older I have a much better classical voice, so you could definitely see me going back to that." Charlotte celebrates her 21st birthday on Wednesday but the party-loving star won't be hitting the clubs. Instead she plans to spend the day quietly at home in Cardiff with her family and Gavin. "For my birthday I've told my nan to get me jewellery. My mum will probably get me things from her clothes shop," she said recently. But an engagement ring from Gavin wouldn't go amiss. "If Gavin gave me an engagement ring I'd say yes - probably - but it's really not a big deal," she said. No surprises, aye.

New collaboration for these Russian dolls. Tatu were proposed to record a song together with singer Fergie. "When we came to studio in Los Angeles, our producer suggested us to sing with Fergie" - says Volkova. "Me and Lena clapped our hands because of such luck!" They are working on a movie titled "In Search of t.A.T.u." about two girls who fall in love at one of their concerts. Their upcoming third album is expected to release around the same time as the movie. Since their past albums have been mostly pop and "sad", the gals stated that their upcoming album is going to be more dance and upbeat. Should be another good one.

Why the sudden rage? Owen Wilson shoved a photographer on Australian's Gold Coast to avoid being photographed with Kate Hudson. He flew in from the US to surprise Kate for V-Day and the two have been staying at the posh Palazzo Versace hotel. Fans who waited for hours at the nearby Pacific Fair Cinema, where he was attending a film screening, were shocked by his violent outburst when he was spotted with Kate. The celebrity couple allegedly walked hand-in-hand to the back door of the cinema, but leaped apart and headed for separate doors when they realised a photographer was present. Wilson then angrily jostled and swore at the local snapper and twice shoved him out of the way as he rushed up the stairs. Perhaps he was guilty of something we don't know..
