Fade Away
For a woman who prides herself on eating only one meal a day, Elizabeth Hurley is looking remarkably well nourished these days. But judging from her visit to Milan, perhaps she had been allowing herself the odd bowl of pasta? Or perhaps her newly rounded figure owes more to her hopes of starting a family with Arun Nayar. The baby blue dress and white wrap she wore to the Versace fashion show in Milan at the weekend certainly showed off a much more curvaceous shape. Hurley's spokesperson said the reports that she could be pregnant were "100 per cent categorically untrue." We shall know the truth after some weeks later..
Can't get enought of Simon Cowell's insults? Here's a video compilation of the best of them.
Besides that cool and good looking singer Ace Young, the other person that has a brilliant persona which should put him further through the show is Taylor Hicks. Check out his sample songs and a review from his college bandmate.
So what's been happening in the Hilton world? Paris and Nicole are currently filming The Simple Life 4 where they are trying their best not to communicate to each other; still not on speaking terms. Would be interesting to find out how the producers are going to showcase the final cut of each episode. Paris Hilton has warned actress Charlize Theron to watch out - because the pair could soon be battling for the same movie roles. Paris is confident she shares a similar screen style to Theron, and Hilton has no qualms about putting herself in direct competition with the South African star. She explains, "My acting coach told me I have a similar style of acting to her so we may end up vying for the same parts." Oooh....now let's see what Charlize has to say about it. But knowing her style, she would just brush it off with some intelligent comment. Can't see any 'Hilary vs Lindsay' episode from this.

Kylie Minogue will make a comeback at the Commonwealth Games in Australia. Kylie is recovering from breast cancer but may yet sing at the opening ceremony on March 15. She has agreed to appear and, if she's not up to singing, will make a live TV guest appearance in front of millions. One source said: "Kylie is Melbourne's own princess. It is a real coup for her to be one of the guests of honour." She has completed her treatment for breast cancer and doctors are optimistic for her future. Now she is said to be already planning a series of gigs in Australia this November as a gift to fans who missed her Showgirl gigs last year.

Buzzcocks guitarist Steve Diggle is concerned bands including Green Day fail to see the true point of punk - which is rejecting the past and creating something new. The rocker is flattered the American rockers cite him and his contemporaries The Clash and the Sex Pistols as an influence. But he'd prefer it if they acted like real punks and stopped trying to "ape" their heroes. He says: "They're alright. They're nice guys, and I think it's a compliment they are inspired by us. "But they are a watered down version of the original. "The Buzzcocks, the Pistols and The Clash, we all developed something of our own instead of apeing people from before." Oh yes. GD started out as a cool punk outfit then turned into pop-punk which is still not too bad and then finally into pop-friendly-less-punk. The three old school bands are hardcore punks it their own right. Blame MTV for making GD write songs for the masses and not for the 'kerplunk' fans.
Meanwhile, Billy Joe has just finished recording his first solo track. The tune, Mechanical Man contributes to Live Freaky Die Freaky, an animated puppet film produced by Rancid's Tim Armstrong. The film is loosely based on the cult of Charles Mansun and includes performances by Armstrong, Kelly Osbourne, Good Charlotte's Benji and Joel Madden and Henry Rollins. Solo track? Please do not follow the brian mcfadden or lee ryan route..
50 Cent and The Game are feuding over the affections of singer Mya. Anyone (read: rapper, hip hop community) will find Mya an absolute beauty so it will be fun to see how this goes. 50 and his former protege are conducting a war of words over the singer in their most recent songs. As usual, their 'words are weapons'. In 50's latest track, 'Not Rich - Still Lying', he targets The Game - saying he was with Mya before the new hip-hop star was famous. Previously, The Game rapped about wanting to date Mya, who starred in the video for his song 'Dreams'. While this song vs song feud is going on, what does Mya herself think of both gentlemen? Well...despite the two rap heavyweights fighting for her affections, a friend of the singer claims Mya insists she has never been involved with either star. Will that stop the manly song-writing antics? Nah.
If you don't know yet, Liam Gallagher is a huge fan of Charlotte Church. In fact, he has written the Welsh singer a song he hopes she'll perform. Liam was inspired to pen the track after following Charlotte's exploits in British tabloid newspapers. He says, "She's a great lass. I love reading about her and thought I'd write something for her. I just hope she wants to sing it." The inspiration must have been felt just like his genius '02 self-penned 'Songbird'. Comparing to the other cutesy, girly, polite female UK singers out there, Char's a special breed - with her Liam-esque way of bashing anyone she can't stand listening to or watching. She's not anyone...
Kate Moss has been getting cosy with Strokes guitarist, Albert Hammond Jr. The pair were spotted getting intimate at London's Cuckoo Club, which is for private members only, last Wednesday. An onlooker said: "Kate, Sadie Frost and their gang took over some tables at the back of the club and ordered bottles of vodka, but Kate only had eyes for Albert. He was whispering in her ear and she was smiling and laughing at everything he said." They added: "When someone interrupted to speak to Kate, she just batted them off to continue gazing at Albert." At the end of the night, the smitten pair left the venue together. But Albert dismissed those claims, saying: "Being with Kate was drunken and friendly. She's a cool girl and I had a fun night, but I'm seeing someone." I think they are just good buddies, just like Robb & Shakira.
Has Katy been meeting Pete Doherty secretly? The pair have been spotted spending time together at the Westbourne pub in London's Notting Hill. "Yes, I have seen Kate again," Doherty confirmed at the NME Awards. A source close to the couple said: "They've met up a few times but have been very careful not to get spotted. They decided to go to that pub because it's the last place anyone would look for them. It's not exactly the trendiest pub around there and they have managed to get away with it - until now." Hard to believe this speculation.
Hey look! That's Keira Knightley getting cosy with her Pride & Prejudice co-star Rupert Friend. The actress looked relaxed and happy as she cuddled up to the actor during a break in the Bahamas. At one point, the couple even kissed as they cavorted in the surf. An onlooker is quoted as saying: "Keira and Rupert looked very much in love. She was smiling and he couldn't keep his hands off her - she looked fantastic." The photographs will end months of speculation that Keira has rekindled her romance with model Jamie Dornan. The couple split last year following a string of rows over their conflicting work schedules, but were later spotted strolling hand in hand in London.
Keira Knightley has hit out at the Oscars comparing them to "a dog show". The stunning actress has also said she is dreading Sunday night's (March 5th) event. She said: "It's a bit like being in a dog show in a funny way. You get trotted out as Britain's prize poodle, wearing your dress and they give you marks out of ten for what you are wearing and what your jewels are like." Finally someone tells it like it is. Well done! The star has also attacked Hollywood for being ageist and a lonely place. Keira fumed on the Ellen DeGeneres chat show: "You are surrounded by thousands of other people, who are after the same thing. It's an industry that everything is blown up and down in seconds. If you are an actress - you work more when you are young. There is a time frame that you have to be realistic about. I don't think you are ever in control." Very true. The reporters all around the world control their fate...

Oasis concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium

Neil Humphreys' Oasis gig review.
Adrian Yap's gig review.

Concert review by fans ( Eyeris / Oasistar / Shazee )
Some lame complaints by concert goers who are better off watching opera instead of a rock n roll concert..

Basic Britpop - by Jill Alphonso for Straits Times
Oasis does not believe in working the crowd. What you see is what you get. No more, no less. Most bands these days know that to keep their fans interested, they have to pander to them a little; to put on, as they say, a show. Not Oasis. At their concert on Thursday, the British rockers sang, muttered once or twice to the crowd, and generally did not bother with much more. If some of the 9,000 strong turn out were disappointed by the lack of small talk and interaction, you could say it was not really the band's fault. After all, the Manchester blokes have never played to the gallery. They have never given a hoot what their fans want. Instead, they rely on their music, as well as their bad-boy antics, particularly fracticious bickering between the Gallagher brothers, singer Liam and singer-guitarist Noel.
In the same vein, one cannot expect them to execute flying leaps at their gigs, or to even smile.
The guys were the leaders of the 1990s Britpop phenomenon, a nationalistic movement against America grunge, that both rebuffed American pop domination and emulated its attitude. And back then, it was the slacker-cool image that Brit bands like Blur, Suede and Oasis adopted, for it was what American grunge acts Nirvana, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden expressed to the world. It was an attitude that reflected a move against the mind numbing commercialism of the 1980s. You could see that right from the start of the gig when Liam, 33, took to the stage at 8.35pm. He sang in the trademark sideways stance he has developed over the years - standing with one foot forward, both hands clasped behind his back, hunched over and stretching his neck up to reach the microphone. After launching into new songs Turn Up The Sun and Lyla, taken from their 2005 album Don't Believe The Truth, he inexplicably left the microphone to stand arms crossed, centrestage.
From behind the sunglasses he wore, he stared into the crowd.
It appeared as if he fancied himself a kind surveying his kingdom. Or perhaps he was just challenging the crowd, as if to say, take us as we are. Or, maybe, he was just bored. In any case, those in the $160 free standing section were there to make sure they got their money's worth. The crowd in the mosh pit launched themselves skyward, some crowd-surfing for a few seconds before getting pulled out by the bouncers. Two men in the back did exuberant jigs to the songs, throwing the occasional full-body twirl and a moonwalk or two.
Liam left the stage mid-way through the set, allowing Noel to sing on hits like The Masterplan, the title track of their 1998 fourth album. Suprisingly, Noel's voice was expressive, a contrast to his brother's shouting, raspy vocals. If Liam is a singer whose voice would fit in a pub where brawls break out over football matches, Noel's is a loftier, rangier counterpart, one you might enjoy listening to while drunk and almost falling asleep. The band were at their best when they launched into Wonderwall, their eponymous hit of 1995, and older hits like Champagne Supernova. To hear those songs was to feel a twinge of what it was like to be a teenager in the 1990s, knowing vaguely that the roads ahead would be winding, but not knowing exactly which road you would have to walk down in life.
Everything was new, and the world seemed full of possibilities.
"Don't put your life in the hands of a rock n roll band who'll throw it all away," Noel sang on Don't Look Back in Anger. They were right. Some members in the audience might have felt that 70 minutes they had put in Oasis' hands were 70 minutes wasted because, where were the theatrics?
But in an era where big-rock bands with big shows and crowd-pleasing antics have become indistinguishable from commerical pop acts, Oasis' back to basics, no frills approach was a breath of fresh air. They might not be crowd-pleasers today with their posturing, incessant swearing and disinterested stage presence. And, yes, they even left the stage with nary a good bye. But the die-hard fan would have gone home with memories swirling in his head, recollections of a time when Britpop was young and when the world was younger. Oasis were unapologetically, unabashedly all that they have ever wanted to be - and what is wrong with that?

Okay. So straight away after the super fookin' brilliant concert yesterday, I realised that my speaking voice is quite similar to Rod Stewart. That was the result of shouting out the lyrics of all the songs. Doing some research beforehand, the expected set-list does not have Supersonic & Columbia(!!?!??!??!). Sad. Upon reaching the area, there was already a small bunch of people in line. So it's not too bad. Around 4.30pm, overheard some people rushing to a place nearby, shouting & cheering away..maybe the band has arrived in that small black car?? And we thought they took a van to reach the indoor stadium. Back to queue, there was this dude with a big bottle of alcohol giving a toast to everyone saying out loud - "Today, Liam Gallagher is gonna teach us how to live forever!"...aaaaah, nice one! At around 6.50pm, I went to the Gents which was located about 100-150m away and when i came out, the queue was moving forward!!! Fookin' hell. After sprinting like Thierry Hen-ry, i was lucky to catch up with the gang...When the queue moved near to the door, one unlucky dude was turned away by the security saying that he was at the front a while ago. He was told to move to the back. Tough luck manz. So we went in and got a nice position at the middle 3rd row. Joked with the guys about those people on the seated area. How can you watch a rock n roll concert sitting down??? Time was 7.15pm... and they would definitely start around 8.30pm. Some joker attempted a body surfin' stunt before the show even started! Made friends with some young 'uns who asked about where i got my oasis t-shirt, oasis tag, blah blah.. After that at 8.32pm...FITB started and fookin' mad dancing routine starts. Some people were kinda looking at me and has the 'wow' look injected. Maybe it's coz i'm one of the few who belted out every word of the less popular old sch/new tracks word by word...hahahaa. i rule of coz. Two wwe built guys arrived at our area and they kept shouting 'SUPERSONIC'...but of coz there isn't for the night which is quite disappointing. The band did a marathon of songs until rock n roll star...where they took a break...encore with 4 songs..ended with my generation. Heard that the tamborine that Liam threw to the crowd to the left side of the free standing crowd was hastily grabbed by a bunch of people and in the end, the tambourine got split into half!! And the best part was they seemed happy to share their portions of it.. Though it was air-conditioned but the atmosphere was so intense i'm actually sweating.. and maybe lost abt 2kg as well from jumping around and raising hands in the sky. Disappointed that some of the people in the crowd just stood around like a mannequin during the less popular songs...like watching the betting odds at a betting outlet. Doesn't matter. Body is still aching from yesterday's unforgettable experience. This is rock n roll...this is rock n roll...
Gonna compile the concert pics soon...
A very funny incident written by Alex Kapranos about him being told off not to eat outside food in the hotel during his Asian tour...
Ian Brown has warned troubled singer Pete Doherty's his burgeoning career will collapse if he doesn't quit drugs soon. He has urged Doherty is get clean because the group will never reach their full potential until he is sober. Brown says: "Babyshambles are a great rock 'n' roll band. Pete didn't put a foot wrong. He didn't miss a note and the band didn't skip a beat. People can say what they like about Pete being a waster, but they put on a great rock 'n' roll show. My advice to them is keep off the class-A drugs. I would always encourage Pete to keep off the class-A drugs because it doesn't matter how big you are, they will take you down." Ian Brown should just give him a tight slap and some serious counselling sessions to bring him back to the healthy route.
Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe are finally set to join forces on the silver screen. The famous pair will star as passionate lovers in a historical epic set in their homeland and directed by Baz Luhrmann. The Moulin Rouge director said the movie will be shot partly in the Australian Outback "It's a classic emotional romance between two characters. We have some of the most extraordinary landscape on the planet and we want to get two of the most extraordinary actors in the world and put them, acting, in that landscape." Luhrmann told the Daily Telegraph that Kidman and Crowe's on-screen relationship was "very passionate".The film, which does not yet have a title, is set in Darwin in the 1930s and sees its leads become involved in a love triangle. Luhrmann said the impetus came from a shared desire between him and his two stars to "do something purely Australian on a scale the world hasn't seen before". Hmmm, that would be massive indeed.
The return of Friday The 13th movie!
Ashlee Simpson visiting children at the Beth Israel Pediatric Hospital in NYC and her performance at the MTV TRL Awards.
Lindsay Lohan doesn't want to be called a Teen Queen. In the March edition of Allure mag, Lohan says she wants to be considered a serious actress - and rejects her youthful, party-girl image. "I hate it when people call me a teen queen," Lohan says in an interview. So she prefers to be called a princess because queen sounds like err..drama queen? As for her days as a Skinny Girl, Lohan says: "Sometimes being that thin doesn't look healthy. I kind of didn't realize that." And her close ones doesn't realize that too? About the point where she dropped pounds from her shapely figure following a hospital visit last year, she says. "I lost weight when I was in the hospital, and then I wanted to keep it off. It was an attention thing, too." And hence the tag of 'teen queen'.
Jack White is heading to Scotland with his side project The Raconteurs. They have announced their first ever UK shows which will see them playing four dates in March. The four piece side project of Jack White and Brendan Benson will play in Liverpool, Glasgow, Newcastle and London. The Raconteurs debut album Broken Boy Soldiers is out in May. At least there is a new album with Jack's vocals this year. And it will be some bad-ass indie rock quality for sure.
Are you an anti Craig Bond?
Daniel Craig has had two teeth knocked out during his first James Bond fight scene. The actor's injuries were so serious that his dentist Rod McNeil had to be flown out to Prague, where Casino Royale is currently being filmed. An insider told the Sunday Mirror, "Daniel was filming with some minor actors when he got hit in the face. He was reeling from a heavy blow and staggered back holding his face. He put his hand to his mouth but the blood started to seep through his fingers - it was horrible. He did not make a fuss though, and fortunately the accident will not affect the film. He soon got back to work, and will just have to wear a gumshield during action scenes for the film. These are so his teeth look perfect when his mouth is open and cameras pan in on him." This is embarassing man. I feel sorry for Ian Fleming.
The Vines have released the details of their third album, Vision Valley, which will be released in April. This third album, which is the follow-up to their 2004 album Winning Days, has been in the pipeline since the band started recording in September last year. However it was delayed by the revelation that frontman Craig Nicholls had been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, a form of high-functioning autism.
The released track listing for the forthcoming album is as follows:
Anysound
Nothin's Comin'
Candy Daze
Vision Valley
Don't Listen To The Radio
Gross Out
Take Me Back
Going Gone
F*k Yeh
Futuretarded
Dope Train
Atmos
Spaceship
Jessica Simpson will be in a new movie called - Employee of the Month. Now what is that all about?

Ok...so they are going to London soon. Jenny, a famous gay model with short short hair, came by to give them some tips about the fashion industry. Kim asked her how to cope with showing her feminine side during photoshoots. Kim & Nicole bitched about Jayla & Lisa through the toilet cam which was very hilarious. Next day, ET correspondent dude talked to them abt celebrity life, showing them awkward pics of them eating, making angry, weird faces, etc. So he said, if they win the competition, there would surely be some awful pics taken by paparazzi that will make or break their career. At home, Kim starts playing the harmonica to Nicole...with different tunes represnting the departure of the other gals, especially Jayla. Bre wasn't too happy abt Kim talking behind people's back..and told Jayla abt it. Nik also got tired of Kim talking bad about her. Lisa can't wait to go to London. One more photoshoot b4 they go to London. They went to a shop to take a passport by a celebrity photographer which turned out to be a test to see how prepared they were for the unexpected fake passport taking session. Bre won the test. Lisa continued complaining to camera about the delay of going to London.. She really can't wait to leave the country asap. Big arguments started when Kim overheard Nik & Bre talking about her. Then Jayla let it out that she was unhappy about Kim talking bad behind her back. Kim apologized for her childish behaviour. Bre was not really buying it. Lisa is damn happy upon arriving in Heathrow, London. They all can't believe they are in London; riding on a roof-less red bus. Savoy Hotel...suite 212 was their new home. Bre brought Nik with her on a date with two Englishmen. Nik was so happy coz she has never ridden on a carriage b4. At the suite, Kim wrote an apology letter to Nik & Bre...and Nik still doesn't really buy into her sincerity. Next day, they were all asked to squeeze in the Red telephone Booth with all taking the chance to be the front person. Only with their underwear and braless with their 'tabloid' newspaper. Not sure who..but someone farted on the first take. wtf manz. Bre said some of the beautiful girls didn't wear deodorant. Nicole told the photographer to wait b4 the last shot...Jay then said "since when has the model decide which is the last shot?" Judging time. Paparazzi worst shot was used as a test. Nicole, Bre, Nik, Lisa had horrible expressions. Jayla & Kim were ok. The phonebooth photoshoot next. All did fairly well. Not too sure why Jayla was looking away from the camera. First name called...Kim...Bre, Nicole, Nik....Lisa Vs Jayla. One spitfire character which the judges not really happy about..on the verge of being cocky... While the other was just playing safe and not showing what she is capable of. So, the one going home is Lisa. Weird coz the show did not solely focus on her and the week where she was not doing anything crazy(maybe due to the english weather?) resulted in her departure.
She Wants Revenge are out with the video to their new single Tear You Apart, from their self-titled album.
Charlotte Church and boyfriend Gavin Henson were photographed outside their home in Cardiff, Wales on Monday (Feb 20).
Birthday girl (21st Feb '86) Charlotte Church seemed to have a dose of puppy love as she stepped out carefully carrying a tiny dog. The singer emerged from the Cardiff home cradling the tiny creature. Looking all grown up in sleek beiges and browns teamed with a burnished gold handbag, Church said that Gavin had lavished her with gifts including a Jack Russell puppy. She told a BBC show: "Gavin bought me a dog, a little Jack Russell, she's called Tina. She's so beautiful. She cried all night last night and I had to look after her so I'm absolutely knackered." Now Charlotte has another puppy to complain to, on anything she is unhappy about whenever the other one is not around.

Alex Kapranos caused mayhem after the band's concert in Singapore when he invited fans back to his hotel. He had been miffed when told he couldn't eat in the hotel lobby by the manager. So he invited fans to a party at the hotel. Around 150 turned up and met the boys for food. Now that's sweet - and sour - revenge. Check out their concert pics.
Kate Moss is set to star in a Hollywood blockbuster as a beautiful socialite who enjoyed numerous lesbian affairs. She has been offered the plum role in director Ang Lee's forthcoming flick based on the life of legendary 60s siren Dusty Springfield. Charlize Theron, will brush up her beehive and lay on the mascara to take on the role of the gay star but Moss is lined up to play one of her early loves. The film will follow the Brit singer's life from her birth in Hampstead, north London, to her death from breast cancer in 1999. Kate's character is thought to be based on a lover that Springfield met in privileged party circles. Our source said: "Kate's the ideal choice to play the love of Dusty's early life. She's beautiful, aloof and she epitomises swinging London.
"There'll probably be sexual scenes but as Ang is behind the camera they will be very tastefully done. Kate's character breaks Dusty's heart and sparks off the chain of tumultuous relationships that dogged her throughout her life." Oh it's the L word kinda show.. Definitely would be more popular than Ang Lee's previous project.
Kate Moss has been voted the most stylish British woman of all time. She has beaten the likes of Princess Diana and Erin O'Connor to win the top spot in the Grazia magazine poll that named the top 50 stylish Brits. Keira Knightly surprisingly made it to third place..very strange. Stella McCartney was fifth, Twiggy sixth then Cat Deeley, Posh Spice, Elizabeth Taylor and Rachel Weisz. Grazia editor Jane Bruton said: "Kate Moss may have tripped up recently, but with 17% of readers voting her as Britain's Most Stylish Woman, she never seems to put a fashion foot wrong. It's great to see the varied interpretations of what being stylish is with such a wide range of women making it into the poll." No doubt half the women in the poll won't even be recognisable in a few years time...

Pete Doherty stormed from The Strokes gig in London on Friday night after his pal was refused entry. He turned up to the celebrity-packed event at the Hammersmith Apollo, but promptly stomped off after security refused to let in his mate. Probably just as well for him - his ex-girlfriend, Katy, was spotted at the gig with a new mystery man, and Doherty's estranged Libertines bandmate Carl Barat was also in attendance. Keane, Coldplay's Jonny Buckland and Sam Herlihy from Hope Of The States were also spotted at the concert. The sad thing was not Pete failing to meet up with Katy, but him missing out coming face to face with his ex-pal from Dirty Pretty Things.

Kylie Minogue has denied reports that she is to marry her French beau Olivier Martinez on an island in France this year. It was reported that the mother Kylie's fella, Rosemarie Martinez had said: "My son has promised we will be flown over for the big day. We're just rejoicing that she and my son can now go ahead and make the plans they've wanted to make for so long." However, in a statement, Kylie's publicist said: "This is just not true." Maybe one day it will?
Kylie is reportedly ignoring medical advice to give up her pop career and will embark on her Australian tour in November. The tour would go ahead, although her Australian representatives would not confirm it. "We have stated the dates will be held later this year," a Frontier Touring spokeswoman said. A source revealed that Kylie had undergone her last radiation treatment on Friday and was now planning her life after cancer. "She has been told it would be best for her to give up pop - because the music world can be so relentless and tiring. Doctors have drummed it into her that she must take it easy." the source said. As a result, her Australian Showgirl tour is expected to be a scaled-down version of the extravaganza she staged in Britain and Europe. Can't wait to see her performing on the big stage again.
Charlotte Church has received an apology from the teenage boy who stole four of her precious gold discs. The discs were stolen from her mum's guesthouse earlier this month. The boy who took them, Leighton Price, anonymously returned the discs a few days later and has been trying to explain his action in a Cardiff magistrate's court. It seems that a mixture of alcohol and bravado caused the young boy to steal the discs...something he later regretted. His solicitor said in court: "When he sobered up, he realised what he had done and he did his best to put it right. He even rang the hotel, anonymously, to make sure nobody else found them. It was a moment of madness that wouldn't have happened had it not been for the amount he had drunk." Well, we've all been there...haven't we?

Keane have completed the yet-to-be-named follow up to 2004's Hopes And Fears after keeping their distance from exterior pressures. Speaking to the BBC, Richard Hughes explained "I think to start off with we felt a lot of pressure, but I think we reached the point where we thought actually if we keep worrying about what everyone's going to think, this is going to turn out to be a rubbish album." Hughes then went on to describe the new record as "a weird rock and roll beast of an album". Interesting... Anyways, Keane have been the butt of many Gallagher brother criticisms over the years.
Complex decisions are best left to your unconscious mind to work out, according to a new study, and over-thinking a problem could lead to expensive mistakes. The research suggests the conscious mind should be trusted only with simple decisions, such as selecting a brand of oven glove. Sleeping on a big decision, such as buying a car or house, is more likely to produce a result people remain happy with than consciously weighing up the pros and cons of the problem. Thinking hard about a complex decision that rests on multiple factors appears to bamboozle the conscious mind so that people only consider a subset of information, which they weight inappropriately, resulting in an unsatisfactory choice. In contrast, the unconscious mind appears able to ponder over all the information and produce a decision that most people remain satisfied with. Ap Dijksterhuis at the University of Amsterdam and colleagues recruited 80 people for a series of lab-based and "real-world" tests. The participants were provided with information and asked to make decisions about simple and complex purchases, ranging from shampoos to furniture to cars.
In one of the tests, half of the participants were asked to ponder on the information they were given and then decide which among similar products to buy. The other half were shown the information but then made to perform a series of puzzles including anagrams and simple arithmetic. At the end of the puzzle session, the participants were asked to make a snap decision about the products. "We found that when the choice was for something simple, such as purchasing oven gloves or shampoo, people made better decisions - ones that they remained happy with - if they consciously deliberated over the information," says Dijksterhuis. "But once the decision was more complex such as for a house, too much thinking about it led people to make the wrong choice. Whereas, if their conscious mind was fully occupied on solving puzzles, their unconscious could freely consider all the information and they reached better decisions." However, the unconscious mind appears to need some instruction. "It was only when people were told before the puzzles that they would need to reach a decision that they were able to come up with the right one," Dijksterhuis said. If they were told that none of what they had been shown was important before being given the puzzles, they failed to make satisfactory choices. "At some point in our evolution, we started to make decisions consciously, and we're not very good at it. We should learn to let our unconscious handle the complicated things."

Up In The Sky
Neve Campbell was terrorised by a string of stalkers when international fame grew after her appearances in the 'Scream' trilogy. Campbell, who played Sidney Prescott, claims one disturbed fan thought he was William Shakespeare and wrote her poetry. What the hell?? She said: "Just after the Scream films the attention was probably at its peak, and it was very difficult to deal with. I had to cope with several stalkers and a lot of very strange letters. But it's not like that now. The people who are watching the sort of stuff I do now are older and more mature. I don't get the obsessive stuff any more." That's the reality of Hollywood life. Weirdos stalking around will be part of the package. How come Anna Faris doesn't have such problems? She acted in four Scary Movies..
Kylie Minogue amazed breast cancer campaigners in Staffordshire, England, when she sent a personal email of support for their fundraising gala last night. The group - Women Fighting For Herceptin - invited the star to attend their event which called for the wonder drug to be made freely available in the UK. Although Minogue is undergoing radiation treatment in her native Melbourne, she still was keen to show her support. She wrote: "I was asked to participate in this gala concert for the girls. As I am focusing on my own recovery from breast cancer I am unable to participate personally. But I send this message with my very best wishes for a wonderful evening. This is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness and also to raise funds for all the women fighting for Herceptin." Typical of her. Always bringing joy to others.
Kate Moss will find out in two weeks if she is to face court over her alleged drug abuse. The UK's Crown Prosecution Service will decide if Moss will be charged with possession of a Class A drug. It will end a six-month investigation which began after the infamous photographs were published last September. I think she will escape harsh punishments, just like her ex-junkie squeeze..
Kasabian have revealed that their second album will be "ugly". They have ditched sampled beats and looped drums but the new album is roughly cut at the moment. Tom Meighan explains: "What we've done is become more real. It's not about the sampled beats anymore, it's all about real drums. But don't worry, the album's still really fucking ugly. Sometimes even I'm upset by its ugliness. It's a proper beast of a record and I can't wait to get it out there. But to be honest.. the whole album just picks you up and tears through you.
"Noel Gallagher's been in the studio a couple of times for a listen and given it the thumbs up, so you know it must be as good as I'm saying." Approval by Noel? Fair enough. YeahYeahYeahs has changed their style and still sound good. Now bring on that beast!

Still awaiting their second album completion. Been too long.

Paris Hilton was the life and soul of the Brit Awards on Wednesday. Hilton managed to cruise around all of the major after show parties following the awards ceremony at Earls Court. After presenting the award for Best International Album Hilton hit the streets of London. Hilton first showed up at the EMI party at the Baglioni Hotel where she danced with Joss Stone and Chris Evans, she then moved on to the Warner party where she danced with Kano. A source told the Daily Star: "Paris took the party spirit with her. Everyone wanted her at their bashes because all the other so-called rock stars refused to party properly." Maybe the next series of The Simple Life can be Paris teaching rock stars how to party properly?

It's the second break-up the pair. They have a son, Josh, from before their first split in January 2003. She said: "I'm trying to take my mind off the split. Keira Knightley has dismissed rumours she is moving to Los Angeles - insisting she is too settled in London. The star claims she would hate to be so far away from her family and friends. She says: "I've no plans to live in America - I'm a London girl. I would never leave. I'm 20 and my family and my friends are there, and a lot of work for me comes from there." The L.A. community won't be happy about that at all.

Memphis Bleek, Lloyd Banks, the Young Gunz, Tony Yayo, Freeway and Teairra Marie are listed as some of the artists scheduled to appear at the event. Last year 50 Cent and G-Unit were one of the rumored targets of Jay-Z's "I Declare War Concert". This year, Jay-Z and 50 will be appearing on and executive producing Freeway's sophomore album Free At Last which will be released via Def Jam. Partygoers who take the recreational drug ecstasy may face a greater risk of long-term brain damage if they bombard themselves with loud music all night long. The warning follows experiments in rats that were simultaneously exposed to loud noise and MDMA, aka ecstasy. The noise both intensified and prolonged the effects of the drug on the animals' brains. Since the experiments were in rats, it is hard to work out what the results mean for humans, but they do suggest that we need to know more about how ecstasy users are affected by their environment. "The most important finding is that the effects of MDMA can be strengthened by common environmental factors, such as noise in discotheques," says Iannone.
His findings echo previous research by Jenny Morton of the University of Cambridge, who discovered that a combination of methamphetamine (or speed) and loud, pulsing music is much more damaging to mice than either stimulus alone. White noise had no effect on the mice in her experiments. "If Iannone's team had used loud, pulsing noise, their effects would probably have been even stronger," she says. She agrees that more research into the combined effect of music and drugs on humans is needed. "It would be tragic to find that taking ecstasy in clubs as a teenager significantly increased the risk of mental illness in later life."
Andy Parrott at the University of Wales has carried out an analysis of the combined effects of ecstasy and environmental factor. "From the long-term health perspective, dances and raves may well be the worst venues in which to take MDMA," he says. "Dancing, heat and noise may all boost the acute effects of MDMA, but these same factors will also exacerbate the long-term adverse effects."

Lisa Kudrow doesn't let her son watch TV. She has banned it to protect son Julian's innocence. Kudrow said: "I don't actually allow my son to watch TV. I just don't think it's appropriate. My son watches DVD's but I limit him to one hour a day. I'd much rather have him spend time with friends or play sports. He's never even seen 'Friends'." Now why is that so? The 'Smelly Cat' song is kinda cool for kids to sing along..
Jessica Simpson cheated on Nick during the marriage?? According to US Weekly, Jessica and Adam first hooked up the weekend of May 22, 2004. They were in performing at the KISS Concert at the Tweeter Center near Boston. Both were seen kissing backstage, getting touchy-feely at an afterparty and then going into his room together late that night. Over the next year and half, they bumped into each other numerous times. When Jessica wasn't at an event with Nick, she would always hang with Adam. The mag predicts that they'll "quietly" hookup for the time being. Jess is in Santa Monica making a movie; Adam is in L.A. working on an album. Then in about May -- six months after her official split -- they'll "accidentally" get photographed holding hands in public. Well..this is probably another fact or fiction story.

Paris Hilton dazzled the audience at London Fashion Week when she took to the catwalk wearing diamonds worth more than 2 million pounds. She wowed the crowds who had gathered for Julien MacDonald's collection last night when she opened the show in a black and white diamond heart necklace which she wore with a full-skirted, strapless satin ensemble. Hilton later brought proceedings to a close clad in a glittery dress and stud earrings closely packed with clusters of diamonds. Paul Weller, 'biggest fan' of James Blunt that there ever is, is also a big fan of the Arctic Monkeys. He loves their attitude and their disrespect of 'rules', such as not appearing on CD:UK and TOTP. Paul said: "They've fucked off loads of people. They have done it on their own terms. "Fucked off Top Of The Pops and done their own thing. It's powerful." Oh yes. Weller has believed the hype.
Maybe after hearing that comment above, Chris Martin must try to chip in as well. Martin has hailed the Arctic Monkeys as "the greatest band in the world". He made the comments while on Chris Moyles' Radio 1 breakfast show. Speaking about what British bands he likes in the run-up to the Brits, Martin said: "Obviously the Arctic Monkeys are the greatest band in the world." He then went on to plead with the portly show host to play something by the Sheffield lads. Moyles refused as the show was only playing tracks by British solo artists.
Officials at Avril Lavigne's management company are helping a fan fight the Recording Industry over an illegal file-sharing charge. Nettwerk Music Group are going to fund David Gruebel's legal costs against the big wigs, who are suing him for downloading Avril Lavigne's 'Sk8er Boi'. Chief exec officer of NMG, Terry McBride said: "What does this litigation do? It destroys people's lives. It's not a tool that should be used except in the most drastic circumstances." The Gruebels are accused of sharing nine specific song files for which the RIAA is claiming $9,000 in damages for what it insists is 'theft'. "Suing music fans is not the solution, it's the problem,' said Terry McBride, Nettwerk's CEO. He added: "Litigation is not "artist development". Litigation is a deterrent to creativity and passion and it is hurting the business I love. The current actions of the RIAA are not in my artists' best interests." That is so damn true.
Ronan Keating still bear grudges and has not forgiven ex-manager Louis Walsh for questioning his musical talent. Ronan fired Louis as manager in 2003. Louis recently said that the two of them are still friends and that is what started off rumours of a Boyzone reformation. However, Ronan said: "I have no respect for him, he tried to absolutely ruin my career. He was jealous. I had to sack him because he wouldn't manage me. He hurt me all right. He's trying to make up with me because he wants Boyzone to get back together. He says in the papers, 'Oh Ronan and I shook hands,' but it's bullshit. When the gang got back home, Kyle left them a goodbye msg. Kim was sobbing in front of camera coz she missed Kyle. Bre talked to mum on phone saying she's now very stressed. Next day, they went to 'Poodle Porcher' to meet an ex-winner Eva who was doing a photoshoot.. and she introduced them to her entourage. She then had a talk-to group session telling them to set their own standard becoz they are a commodity right now. 'Set your own style' is the motto. Lisa flirted with the entourage while the rest sat around yawning away. All of them asked where Lisa was. Then Nik told Lisa they don't like her. That night, Lisa dressed as some ridiculous freak with an 'envy' t-shirt to lighten up the mood of the house. But the rest are not buying into it. All said that she has gone crazy which is quite true. "Have you ever fantasized being the head bitch around?" said Tyra Mail. Next day, they were brought to a place with make-up and fashion entourage...all were given a set of entourage to work with..and then present it to a some big name judge. 1 hr given to complete the task. The judges were from Print Enterprise. 1 guy 1 gal. The guy said Nik is very beautiful and he doesn't want to hear what she got to say. Bre was a little bit nervous. Kim was cool and did well. Nicole fumbled now and then; never said she got the talent but said there were two sides of her, etc. Lisa faked some tears after telling she went through shit in life, Jayla was blabbering her life story in a very comical mountain-echo edited manner and the guy judge looked bored and puzzled which was a priceless moment. Winner = Kim. She got to star in Veronica Mars alongside Kristen Bell. She played a cust svc desk personnel. Forgotten to dial the phone after picking it up.. but overall did ok in her role in that show. Back home...Kim said she was happy she won something at last. Lisa said she preferred to win but she said 'Congrats' to Kim...Kim & Nicole talked to toilet cam saying Lisa was just jealous... and Lisa said to camera she wasn't. Usual girly banter. Next day...photoshoot to potray anger with mtv crazy trio. Bre was not buying into their mad antics. Jayla posed shouting soundless shouts with the trio at background with a mad-dog. Bre was thrown panties by them in the photoshoot. Lisa in the toilet shoving each of them. Kim by the pool side shouting with the trio jumping into the pool at the same time. Nicole laughing-shouting with trio in a bed with Kim which she imagined was a lesbian scenario. Nik shouting out with trio in their lingerie and many boxes were seen to censor their smalls. The rest of the girls were laughing when the guys jumped and after the shoot Nicole was happily flirting with the guys especially one of them. To make sure she gets more attention, Lisa wore diapers and pee-ed on it...the rest were grossed by it. Who wouldn't. Judging time. Test for them to pose with shades (Lisa jumped clumsily and nearly spoiled it, Nicole '45deg back turned and head turned to front' pose), smile with toothpaste product and promote an impromptu chocolate advert.. Jayla was zzzzzz. Bre did well with a sexy voice ad. First name called.. Bre then Kim, Nik, Lisa.. Nicole vs Jayla... both got teary eyed when Tyra told them both to pack their bags...becoz they are going to LONDON!!!! Heart sank for a moment from seeing Jayla going home. But all survived this week.

Editors have been heaping praise on their fellow Brit Awards nominees. Tom Smith says that British guitar music is enjoying a renaissance in recent years and two of the biggest figureheads are Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs. He said: "Everyone's talking about how British bands have been enjoying a great run of success recently and I think that's true. Groups like Kaiser Chiefs are brilliant. "Their songs are incredibly catchy. I remember seeing them at the end of last year and every song from their set was imprinted on my memory. They're one of the major success stories." Turning his attention to Franz, he said: "They're a very important band and before they came along that kind of guitar music wasn't being played on the radio. It's great listening so hopefully they will win something."
Gorillaz are set to release a live DVD and CD this spring recorded during their five night stint at Manchester Opera House. 'Demon Days Live - At Manchester Opera House' is pencilled in for release on April 3rd and will feature the gig in chronological order.
Coldplay's announcement at the Brit Awards that they will be taking a break has signalled to many the end of the band completely. Chris Martin hinted the group is to step out of the limelight for a few years, over fears the media and public will get sick of them. They have done the right thing. X&Y is so bloody overrated. Martin said: "People are fed up with us and so are we. You won't see us at one of these for many, many years. We mean it. It's hard for us sometimes because we're English and we don't get to admit that we are great. So tonight we'd like to agree with you for giving us this award." Friends and sources are now claiming that Martin is putting the band on hold to spend more time with his wife Gwyneth Paltrow and their baby Apple. The couple are expecting another child in April. The singer apparently later told Brits host Chris Evans: "You had a break, so are we." Yesssssss! If only Blunt-y follow suit..
Those cheeky Arctic Monkeys managed to baffle most of the Earls Court audience at this year's Brit Awards . In the film of the acceptance speech for the Best British Breakthrough Act the Sheffield lads somehow managed to acquire a mystery fifth member. In fact, they had drafted in We Are Scientists frontman Keith Murray just to confuse the audience. Funny guys.
People like a song more when they think other people like it too, a new study suggests. But the interactions between individual and group opinions are so complex that it is impossible to predict whether a good song will be a hit or a flop, according to researchers who asked people to rate the quality of music by unknown bands.
Sociologists Matthew Salganik and colleagues at Columbia University in New York recruited more than 14,000 people to visit a website with 48 songs by relatively unknown bands. People could listen to songs, rate them, and then decide whether to download them. One group of participants saw only the names of songs and musical groups. Other participants also saw how many times a particular song had been downloaded by others. Both groups broadly agreed about which songs were good and which were bad.
But participants who could see how often a song had been downloaded tended to give higher ratings to songs that had been downloaded often, and were more likely to download those songs themselves. That created a snowball effect, catapulting a few songs to the top of the charts and leaving others languishing. "From outside of the industry, it seems like music executives can create stars at will. But we only see the ones that become successful. We don't see all the failures," Salganik says.

Heathen Chemistry
Kylie Minogue may return to Australian soap 'Neighbours'. She has admitted she misses the TV show that made her a star. Kylie, who played the feisty mechanic Charlene, still watches the soap and says she would love to be in it again. The singer is quoted as saying: "There are still people there from my time in the late 80s and I do miss it. I wouldn't rule out appearing on it again one day." That would be lovely.
Kylie currently planning her wedding? She was spotted trying on a vintage cream wedding dress in Melbourne last weekend - with Olivier by her side. A source told the Mirror, "Kylie looked deliriously happy and so did Olivier. It's clear to everyone that they've discussed marriage - especially if she's trying on wedding dresses. Before she tried the dress on, Olivier and Kylie were overheard saying there was nothing wrong with her trying some dresses on to get some ideas even if it was a second-hand wedding dress. Kylie is still a girl at heart. She's dreamed about her wedding day and the dress." Bless them both.
Charlotte Church is battling the bulge with a new vegan diet guru. She hopes to find a new svelte figure with the help of American Dr Neal Barnard, who specialises in plant-based nutrition. Pals say she is tired of digs at her figure from celebrity magazines, so is seeking a healthy way of losing weight. One of them said: "Charlotte is never going to starve herself to be thin but she's up for a change." She looks fantastic as ever but to go through the 'Nicole Richie' route is not the way for this Welsh soprano. Apparently, Charlotte wants to look slimmer for her super-fit rugby player boyfriend. He couldn't help noticing her fondness for an 18-month-old elephant during a safari holiday in South Africa, and he decided to plan a secret adoption. Perhaps she thought he was dropping a hint. Even if she does turn into a skinny malinky, we're sure Charlotte will still be a crazy chick.
Kasabian are massive fans of the Arctic Monkeys. Aahh...class. Tom Meighan believes the Sheffield lads should win the Best British Breakthrough Act at the Brits and that they have done a lot to change the face of music. He said: "They've got to win British Breakthrough. I remember talking to my mates about them before they were signed and now look at them. That guy (Alex Turner) is a poet, and I'm a proper fan of everything they're about. It's fucking amazing for British music what those lads have done and I'd love to meet them." Yes. They should let their indie powers combine for more processed beats.
Arctic Monkeys have also completed filming of two short films loosely based on the lyrics of their number one single When The Sun Goes Down. Scummy Man and Just Another Day, fourteen and eight minutes long respectively, were shot before Christmas and tell the story of a prostitute from their native Sheffield from two differing perspectives. The band have teamed up with the production company who worked on 'Dead Man's Shoes' to make two short clips. They tell the story of a prostitute working on the streets of Sheffield - and it's loosely based on the narrative in the band's second Number One single. The video for 'When The Sun Goes Down' contains clips from the film, although the finished movie is longer. A film source revealed: "Shooting took place before Christmas. The idea is to tell the story of the song from two different perspectives. The first film is called 'Scummy Man' and is 14 minutes long, and tells the story of a prostitute called Nina, the 'scummy man' mentioned in the title and all the low-life people who live in that world. The second film is called 'Just Another Day' and is shorter, about eight minutes long. It's the film from another perspective." Ok. Should be worth watching.
Once again, the big-headed Ricky Wilson tries to get some attention. He is disappointed that Oasis won't be coming down to attend the Brit Awards. "It's daft that Oasis aren't coming," he says. I like Liam Gallagher. He always says something clever and funny. But he's not the sort of bloke I'd go down the pub with. Whenever I say anything, he disagrees." Liam would no doubt disagree with Ricky's contention that the Kaisers are the better band. Ricky boasts: "Yes, I still think we're the best band in the world. Of course we're better than Oasis. I don't want to come across as big-headed - Oasis are great - but I wouldn't be in a band if it wasn't the best." Na-na-na-na-na........ ooooooooooh......... Compare those chants with 'this is rock n roll...' and laugh yourself to sleep, yah?
Robbie Williams has grown older by a year. He flew his friends to Las Vegas last week to celebrate his 32nd birthday. The singer booked an entire restaurant at the Bellagio hotel for his guests, including Ant and Dec and actor Max Beesley. "He wanted a quiet affair for close friends but that didn't stop him splashing out. He flew over several of the guys who play in his band and other pals too. There was no expense spared - the booze was flowing although Robbie stayed on soft drinks. He put them all up in the hotel and everything was paid for." Soft drinks? Something is amiss there.

Lady Sovereign will release "Blah Blah Ep" at the end of March. It will feature four tracks including a live version of "Public Warning", "A Little Bit of Shh(Ad Rock Remix)" and a new track "Drunk on Radation."
After ten years of missing form the music scene, Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill and Pras reunited to perform in front of 8,000 fevered fans in a free outdoor show put on by Verizon Wireless. "Can you believe it, we in Hollywood?" said Jean, who served as host for most of the seventy-five-minute set. "This is history!" The Fugees mixed old and new songs, emphasizing the reggae vibe that's often distinguished their songs from the rest of the hip-hop world, as well as material from their individual projects. Predictably, group favorites like "Killing Me Softly With His Song," "Ready or Not" and "Fu-Gee-La" evoked the loudest response. Other standouts included Pras' solo hit "Ghetto Supastar," a cover of Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry" and Jean's "We Trying to Stay Alive." Late in the set, Jean offered only these promising words, "As we proceed, we are the Fugees." And they are cool as fuck.
Jennifer Aniston has reportedly had a miscarriage, America's National Enquirer magazine has claimed. The actress allegedly fell pregnant last month after trying to conceive with husband, Brad Pitt, for some time. It has not yet been disclosed when the alleged miscarriage occurred but according to sources the news has left both stars devastated. A source the National Enquirer: "Jennifer had been in pain so she and Brad went to see her doctor. He broke the terrible news to them. Brad broke down and wept. He has wanted to become a father more than anything in the world." Despite the tragedy the experience is said to have brought the Hollywood couple closer together and even more determined to try for another child.
The source added: "Brad was a total wreck over the miscarriage. But he did everything possible to tend to Jen. It was by far the biggest test of their love." Aniston, has been desperate to have a child for the past year and it was of the reasons why she decided to quit the hit US show 'Friends'. Earlier last week she was spotted visiting former co-star Courtney Cox, who suffered a series of miscarriages before recently giving birth to a baby girl, Coco.

Joss Stone the midwife? The soul sensation admits she doesn't want to be a singer her whole life and thinks delivering babies for a living would be "nice". The star told Elle magazine: "I want to be a midwife. It must be the nicest job. I don't just want to be a singer my whole life. I want to learn. I never thought that I'd say that." The blonde beauty also revealed she has turned down a host of film roles because she believes she would "ruin" the movies she gets offered. Joss is convinced she would be a useless actress and has no plans to switch the recording studio for the big screen. She added: "They keep giving me lead roles, which is silly. I'd ruin it." Such a humble lady.

Pete Doherty will have an implant in his stomach to prevent him from trying to get high on cocaine and heroin. Last week, he told Radio 1's Newsbeat he would stay off drugs to stay out of prison. "To be honest, I'm still breathing a sigh of relief," he said. "I'm getting an implant in four days. As far as the drugs are concerned, it's simple: I'd rather be on the outside with no smack than inside prison with no smack." That guy needs someone to watch him around the clock.
Pete credits his 13 nights in London's Pentonville Prison with forcing him to rethink his life and become a "hero". Doherty was jailed for drugs charges, and wrote a moving prison diary. And it seems prison brought out the romantic poet in him. He wrote, "For my own sake, I must become a hero, organise my life and obtain from it what they deny me. If I live, in order to continue to live with myself, I must have more talent than the most exquisite poet. These people can only put up with the tamed heroes - they don't know about heroism." To many indie peeps out there, he is their hero. For being a poetry musical genius.
Paris Hilton is up to her crazy antics again. What's new? She has threatened to pull out of her role at the Brit Awards unless a Jacuzzi is installed in her dressing room. The socialite was hired to reports from the red carpet at this week's award ceremony for 100,000 pounds. When Paris heard that her dressing room would just be for dressing in she was reportedly shocked. A source said: "Paris is used to a little bit of luxury and couldn't believe that she wouldn't have a few home comforts in her dressing room. She was expecting a Jacuzzi, or at least a bath or shower and a nice comfy settee or sofa. The producers had to tell her the facts of life; that her dressing room is precisely that - a place to get dressed, nothing else. Paris wasn't happy and threatened to pull out. However wiser heads explained to her that her fat fee should more than compensate for any discomfort." Will she get her wish? The show producers must be scratching their heads every minute now.
Neve Campbell, who played Julia on Party of Five, is now engaged to British actor John Light. It will be the second marriage for Neve, who was married to Jeff Colt from 1994 to 1997 and dated John Cusack for many years. She's cute and that is one lucky man.

After nearly two years on the road, The Killers are finally heading into the studio next week with legendary producers Alan Moulder and Flood! "(The album is) more American," said Brandon Flowers. "People called us the best English band to come from America and all that BLEEP. That's cool, and English rock is great but it's forced me to listen to American music to see what I was missing." Accordingly Flowers has been getting into Bruce Springsteen's Thunder Road and Tom Petty. Which will of course lead to the 'one album wonder' tag.

A multi-billion pound race is on for the first "orgasm pill" to spark sexual desire in women, it emerged yesterday. Twenty different drugs designed to get women in the mood for a romp are now in development. US firm Pelatin has a female version called Bremelanotide that targets hormones. UK firm Vectura has a similar pill. Sex expert Philip Hodson said women too exhausted for sex "are looking for a quick-fix". Equal gender treatment. Nice.
