L'esprit D'escalier

Clooney & Zellweger new romance? George Clooney was one of a few celebrity guests at a fancy wedding reception recently held at the Sunset Tower Hotel. Even though George came alone, he nevertheless was enterprising, as he found some right-on female company in fellow guest Renee Zellweger. The former flames played it low key and took 45 minutes before even saying hi to each other. But then they started a chit-chat session.. The twosome remained together the rest of the night, choosing to sit alone and chat instead of mingling with other dancing guests, according to the dancers. They looked cozy and Renee was smiling and acting mucho coy during their extended conversation. Clooney's rep said he knew nada about George rehooking up with Renee, in any fashion, over the weekend, and even if they had, "what's the problem with that?". Nothing wrong. Just a 'yes' or 'no' would do.

Johnny Depp enjoyed dressing as a woman when filming Ed Wood so much, he continued wearing female clothing in his spare time. Film-makers, including the movie's director Tim Burton, worried the actor was in danger of being attacked as an "easy target" because of his clothing preference. The claims are made in author Nigel Goodall's new book The Secret World of Johnny Depp [amazon]. Must be a worldwide hit book with that sort of details.

Eve is unhappy. She has launched a scathing verbal attack on hypocritical rappers who live in luxury but still sing to celebrate violence and poverty. The Let Me Blow Your Mind star refuses to make "angry" music, as she is worried about the effect it has on young rap fans. And she insists the rap community has a duty to present a positive image to the public. Eve says, "I hate angry music now. I feel we have a responsibility to the people who watch us. And they think our music is a real message about how to live. It's so stupid. These are grown men with wives and kids, nice cars and all this money. And then they go on as if they're still part of the hood." Well, this kind of thing is inevitable. Some of them just can't leave their past alone..

Eminem has further rubbished retirement rumours with the news he is working on a new D-12 album. The rapper fuelled rumours he was set to step behind the scenes when he pulled out of his European tour with 50 Cent last year and subsequently went into rehab to treat an addiction to prescription medication. And the murder of Eminem's best friend Proof in April was thought to have further distanced him from the hip-hop scene. But he says: "The D-12 album and those unreleased songs with Proof are coming." Woooo!

For all his millions, 50 Cent is pretty down-to-earth when it comes to grub. Top of his wish list at the recent Armani bash was a bucket of fried chicken. But rather than risk his KFC feast not being piping-hot, Fiddy insisted lackeys fetch it at the exact moment he entered the vicinity of Earls Court. A backstage insider says: "He didn't want the chicken one or two degrees below top temperature." He also asked for two trays of deli meats and cheese, bread, orange juice, Red Bull and a crate of Heineken beer. Another source adds: "He demanded that everything be served on silverware - even the 60p loaf of bread." High life?

Sean Penn is looking to play another iconic figure - namely physicist Albert Einstein. The 'I Am Sam' actor is apparently in talks to take the lead role in a new television movie that will chart the life of the wild-haired scientist. Director Liliani Cavani is developing the project but no contracts have yet been signed. However, a spokesman for Italy RAI reveals that the Academy Award-winning star has "read the screenplay and he likes it". Yay! This dude rocks. Maybe he has to touch the electric crystal ball everytime to get that funny hairstyle before each scene.

Once upon a time, there was this movie called The Goonies. In it, they have some bad guys who called themselves The Fratellis. So i never watched this show but what has been seducing me ear drums for the past week is this Scottish Trio who go by the same name. Get ready for the invasion of THE FRATELLIS into your lives. What? Never heard of them? Sick and tired of the cliche indie tunes from some recent sub-standard bands? Imagine what would happen if food items 'The Libertines' and 'Arctic Monkeys' are added to some old ingredients like 'The Kinks' & 'The Clash'.. spice it up with 'Sons And Daughters' country dance to produce a buffet treat? Answer = Costello Music [amazon]. Even the mighty Bob Dylan's new album has been cast aside simply because three boys from Scotland have finally arrived to juggernaut punch all the coldplays, keanes, snow patrols out of the way. What you have here is a FOOKIN-FUN-THRILL-RIDE masterpiece album. The Fratellis have mastered the idea of 'speeding then slowing down' at certain points of a song, which is freakin' hard to execute as it can turn out really bad if done wrongly. Not easy to keep still when you are 'Creeping Up The Backstairs' with 'Henrietta' along with some 'Cuntry Boys and City Girls'. 'For The Girl' is another fantastic track that is sure to raise a smile. 'Baby Fratelli' is Beatles-gone-punk (ya heard), whereas potential future stadium anthems are for 'Chelsea Dagger' and 'Got Ma Nuts From A Hippy'. They also have the ability to create brilliant 'love/hate' stories from 'Vince The Loveable Stoner', 'Whistle For The Choir' & 'Ole Black And Blue Eyes' with the latter containing one of the most 'feel good' guitar outtro tunes i have ever heard. Ever. All i can say is.. Alex Turner, be warned.
