Again And Again

Robbie Williams has scrapped an odd internet competition in which fans fight for his old tooth. He pulled the venture after lack of interest, and admitted the mad molar idea was a mistake. In a message on his site Robb said, "Thanks for your great response to win my tooth. I always thought it was a bit gross and a weird idea but it was worth a try. There weren't enough 'yesses' to run a competition, so I'll hold on to it and with any luck the tooth fairy will come to visit one night". Help the aged. This dude needs intensive care.

Watch clips from the new film 'Just My Luck'. La Lohan plays Ashley, a young professional just out of college. She also happens to be the luckiest woman in the world, who has lived a super-charmed life and has always taken her good luck for granted. When she kisses a stranger (Chris Pine) at a costume party, Ashley accidentally swaps her good fortune for his horribly bad luck, and her charmed life turns into a living hell. The White Stripes have won a court case brought against them. Jim Diamond, who had a hand in production and mixing of their earlier albums, claimed he was due unpaid royalties for helping to shape the band's career. However, a panel of eight jurors ruled against him in Detroit, and Jack White was relieved about the verdict: "You never know what's going to happen in a trial," he told the media outside the court. Posting on their official site, T.W.S said: "This was a classic shakedown. They expected us to settle but we refused to back down. It took the jury less than 20 minutes to decide what this case was really about. We are grateful the jury saw through Diamond's case and ruled accordingly." Thought this trial would last longer. Thus, there are no denial twists in the end.

Poor Matt-y. After moving away from London to avoid "invasive problems", the Muse fans are still able to track him down at his new Lake Como house in Italy. Matthew Bellamy is concerned at how easy he is to find after receiving a letter from obsessive fans. He says the letter, from three Muse fans, reveals they "know where I live, and they'd found my address on the internet, which is quite scary. I just moved in, and I didn't realise you had to make yourself ex-directory, as in the UK, so I think they just looked me up". Sounds like a map of the problematique situation, no?

[ Razorlight - In The Morning / Boy Kill Boy - Suzie / The Automatic - Monster ]
These are three fun, catchy, rock 'n' roll stuff that has been spinning on repeat..First up is Razorlight's new single that might be mistaken for The Coral song with the same name. Not really into them during the 'Golden Touch' days but with 'In The Morning', my interest in them has reignited. Starting with a cool riff, Borrell begins with some speaking/singing tone and carries on with a decent chorus. The guitar solo are quite nice too while the song structure breaks down at the end with one of the catchiest line ever where you can't help but sing along to "Areyoureallygonnadoitthistime?". Next is Boy Kill Boy. First look at the band name and the freakin' "emo" tag comes to mind. But since it has been highly recommended by many trusted indie peeps, I gave it a chance. And booooooy, it is cool shite to the max! Making good use of electronic keyboards, the vocalist shows some good individual presence in his singing style. Upbeat tempo that builds up at the bridge and leads to an adorable chorus worthy of being sang in a packed stadium. Lastly, 'Monster' is one hell of a frankenstein track brilliantly done by The Automatic. Took notice of this band when 'Recover' was being introduced few months back. That was a good song but with 'Monster', they brought so many tricks in terms of inventive use of instruments to complement the track. The backdrop guitar licks during the verse are a delight to hear, and the vocals demand some marching/dancing along but the best part is the chorus where they create some kiddy lyrics about something lurking behind a hill.. yous a fool if you aren't even slightly tempted to sing in tandem. hah. Won't be surprised if the Kidz Bop crew do a remake of this. New album in July!

Do people mellow with age? Elderly people may be better at perceiving happiness and worse at perceiving fear, a new study suggests. The finding supports the idea that people do mellow with age. Previous behavioural studies have suggested that the elderly are more emotionally stable than younger people. Leanne Williams of the Westmead Hospital and colleagues wanted to understand how biological changes might explain this shift. So they asked 242 volunteers aged 12 to 79 years to view a series of photos showing different facial expressions. Volunteers were asked to pick out the pictures showing fear and happiness from others showing anger, disgust and sadness. As they viewed these images their brain activity was monitored using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Results indicated that older people more accurately spot happy expressions while teenagers are better at identifying fearful expressions.

The brain recordings also found that a region associated with emotion control - called the medial prefrontal cortex - was more active in elderly people when they saw fearful faces than in younger people. This region has been shown to inhibit another brain area called the amygdala, which prompts fear. There may also be an evolutionary advantage to mellowing with age, suggests Helen Fisher, an anthropologist at Rutgers University, US. "I don't think it's just about going to your grave feeling happier about life." She says our hunter-gatherer ancestors may have benefited from the presence of happier elders with a calm approach to settling disputes within groups. "There would have been a tremendous advantage to have older people in the group with an optimistic view," she adds.
